Towards the end of September and into October, eastern Canada comes alive with magnificent autumn colours. From the forests and heather that cover the rolling hills to the tidy city parks, fiery yellow, orange, and red slowly blaze across the landscape to create the kind of vistas that photographers dream of. Whilst it is the end of the main tourist season, meaning that some of the cultural and historic attractions will be closed, it is the perfect time to visit for a relaxing self-drive itinerary without the hordes of leaf-peepers that New England experiences at this time of year.
Additionally, the Celtic Colours festival takes place on Cape Breton Island around the second week of October each year and features a creative selection of artwork, exhibitions, music, and community events in various venues. If you are travelling during the festival, you will more than likely encounter some of the festivities.

This time we embarked on a fly/drive tour around the west of Canada and the holiday build was excellent. Our point of contact was Paul Turner. We received an initial itinerary based on Paul's local knowledge and experience, and then over 3-4 phone calls, we honed it down in detail to our requirements and his recommendations.
