Explore the neighbouring provinces of Alberta and British Columbia, starting with the vibrant city of Calgary, followed by Banff and Jasper National Parks, and British Columbia’s scenic interior, before arriving in the bustling city of Vancouver. The Rocky Mountaineer train will take you on a memorable journey through Canada’s diverse landscapes, passing through valleys, canyons, and mountain passes. Along the way, you’ll see forests, clear lakes, and the impressive peaks of the Canadian Rockies.
From Vancouver, you’ll set sail on a cruise heading north along Canada’s Pacific coastline into Alaska’s fjords and inlets. Over the course of eight days, you’ll take in the forested shores and glaciers before returning to Vancouver’s port.
Please note that cruise itineraries may change depending on the provider and the time of year. The above gives you a taste of what to expect!
Here's a summary of what you might get up to day-to-day on this Canada holiday. As always, this is just an idea. Every single day of your trip will be tailored to suit you.
Enjoy the fantastic scenery on the first full day of cruising, travelling through the Inside Passage. Just beyond the deck rails, the gems of Alaska are laid open in a spellbinding vista of rainforests, glaciers, fjords, and white-capped peaks. Along the way, it is common to view whales and sea lions at play along the coastlines, as well as a near-countless assortment of marine birdlife.
Cruise into the port of Ketchikan today, set along the shores of the Tongass Narrows, notable for its many shops and houses built suspended above the water. Known as the Salmon Capital of the World, this lively town is also home to Creek Street, the Tongass Historical Museum, Totem Bight State Park, and Saxman Village. The town is surrounded by natural wonders, inviting all visitors to embrace their wild side amidst the untamed Alaskan landscape.
