In winter, Sun Peaks Resort is a hub for snow sports, but it’s just as lively in summer, with plenty to do in the mountains and around the village. One of the best ways to start is with a ride up the Sunburst Chairlift, which opens up a network of walking trails. You’ll find everything from gentle, easy-going routes through wildflower meadows to more challenging climbs that reward you with wide mountain views.
The resort also shifts into bike mode in summer, with the lifts running for the Sun Peaks Bike Park, carrying riders up to the top so you can enjoy a range of downhill trails. If you’re keen to give it a go, bikes and gear can be rented locally, and there are options for different confidence levels.
For something a bit different, Sun Peaks has Mountain Cross Cart, a fun, gravity-powered run where you steer a sturdy, non-motorised cart down a twisting course. It’s a great change of pace and tends to be a hit with families.
For calmer downtime, McGillivray Lake is a lovely spot for a paddle, with canoe and kayak rentals available. It’s also a good place for a refreshing swim if the weather’s warm enough and you don’t mind the lake being on the chilly side.
Beyond that, you’ve got a solid mix of activities on offer, including horse riding, golf, Segway tours, horse-drawn carriage rides, and tennis, so it’s easy to shape a day around whatever mood you’re in.
