Butchart Gardens in Canada

Excursion Overview

Tucked away on Brentwood Bay, just north of Victoria, the multi-award-winning Butchart Gardens were established in a small quarry in 1912 by Jennie Butchart, who moved to this area of Vancouver Island six years earlier. Now spanning 55 acres, the gardens boast a series of beautifully themed areas, including Japanese, Italian, and Mediterranean gardens, alongside a visitor centre and gift shop.

In spring and summer, thousands of vibrant flowers burst into bloom, attracting butterflies, bees, and birds, creating a magical atmosphere. In autumn, the trees transform into a palette of warm russets and ochres, making it a stunning time to visit. During winter, the gardens are adorned with festive lights and decorations, offering a unique and enchanting experience.

Transfers or tours are available from downtown Victoria, or if you have a car, it’s just a quick 25-minute drive.

First class. This was the 2nd time I’ve used Holiday Architects - they are absolutely excellent. We have just returned from a perfect trip to Canada to travel and visit friends which Paul Turner brought together excellently.
