Your tailor-made holiday will be as unique as you are. These itineraries are just a starting point, a bit of inspiration to show what’s possible. Your own trip all starts with a conversation with one of our Peru experts, who’ll take the time to understand what matters most to you and design the perfect holiday to match.
Honeymoons don’t need to be all sand, sea and all-inclusive cocktails. We’ve designed this Peru honeymoon idea for couples who are looking to make their honeymoon extraordinary, with an adventure around a country that offers romance and adventure in equal measure.
Peru has some beautiful colonial cities and towns to explore, all boasting charming boutique-style hotels hidden away in historic mansions found down cobbled streets. There’s plenty of innovative dining and a whole range of unique, personal experiences to enjoy. From guided trips around local markets, to private cooking classes and countless ancient sites to explore. Setting sail on the shimmering waters of Lake Titicaca is as romantic as it gets, watching graceful condors soar through the sky above the magical Colca Canyon is a ready-made forever memory, and cosying down in your boutique hotel in the Sacred Valley is relaxation guaranteed. And not forgetting your first glimpse of the Incan citadel of Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate. Every holiday is special, but we’ll make sure your honeymoon is sprinkled with plenty of extra magic to make it truly unforgettable.
Here's a summary of what you might get up to day-to-day on this Peru holiday. As always, this is just an idea. Every single day of your trip will be tailored to suit you.
Your Peru honeymoon begins today with an overnight flight from London to Lima. For the most part, we find night flights suit our clients best, but we'll be sure to work together to find the best flight options for you.
You’ll arrive in Lima today, where your honeymoon begins in Peru’s brilliant capital. Our friendly representative will welcome you with a massive smile and whisk you off to your hotel, tucked away in the heart of Lima’s stylish neighbourhoods. On the way, your guide will give you an overview of the city to help you find the best bits and make the most of your time here. After settling in, head off for a sunset stroll along the Malecon before tucking into a romantic dinner to toast the start of your Peru adventure.
Lima boasts one of the richest food scenes in the whole of South America, and today you’ll dive into it tastebuds first. This shared food tour will lead you around local markets and cafes, tasting everything from rich ceviche to exotic fruits, from the weird to the wonderful. The rest of the afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure. Take a stroll around the vibrant neighbourhood of Barranco, soaking up its bohemian atmosphere, artistic community, boutique shops and trendy cafes. There’s a great nightlife scene here too, so if you fancy a few drinks once the sun goes down, this’ll be the spot!
Today, you’ll head to the airport for a short flight to Arequipa, Peru’s 'White City'. This charming colonial city, framed by a striking volcano backdrop, is a wonderful place to explore together. Its dazzling white colonial buildings made from volcanic stone line the streets and give the city a really unique look and character. When you arrive, you’ll be driven to your hotel, tucked away in the city’s charming Old Town. With plenty of cobbled streets to get lost down and picturesque plazas to explore, grab a seat, order a drink and soak up the atmosphere.
Today, you’ll meet your private guide for a tailor-made tour of Arequipa’s historic centre. Highlights will be the impressive Basilica Cathedral and the serene Santa Catalina Convent, a sprawling convent, painted in vibrant hues of blue and red. This place is like a city hidden within a city, offering quiet courtyards to explore. The rest of the day is free to relax or sample Arequipa’s delicious restaurants.
Your Peru honeymoon continues today as you travel through the romantic landscapes of the Andes, slowly making your way up into the Colca Valley. There will be plenty to occupy you on the drive as you pass through dramatic mountain landscapes dotted with llamas and past little traditional villages where rural Andean life unfolds. When you arrive, take some time to settle into your beautiful accommodation and enjoy the sweeping views over the vast, terraced valley below.
This morning, you’ll head to Condor’s Cross with your brilliant local guide, the best viewpoint from which to spot majestic Andean condors gliding effortlessly on the thermals. And the guides are so brilliant at knowing where they’ll be and when, you’re almost guaranteed some breathtaking sightings. A top tip from our Dawn after her most recent Peru adventure: "Be sure to take a moment to put your camera down and just enjoy the sight here – these birds really are magical!" You’ll head back to your lodge this afternoon for a leisurely afternoon before taking in your serene surroundings with a soak in the hot springs.
Today, you’ll hop on the local tourist coach to Lake Titicaca, the highest lake on Earth. The coach will make plenty of stops on the way for comfort breaks, photo opportunities and warming coca tea. At the other end of the journey, the shimmering waters of Lake Titicaca await. Settle into your lakeside hotel, where we’ve left this evening free for you to enjoy dinner with lake views.
Today, you’ve got a full day to explore the lake with your very own guide and local boatman. Starting with a visit to the famous Uros Floating Islands where the Uros people have lived for centuries. The locals will take great pride in showing you around their homes and teaching you their traditional ways of cooking and life. Next up, you’ll visit the quiet lakeside town of Llachon, perched on the lake’s Capachica Peninsula. Llachon gets far fewer visits than Uros, so you’ll feel a little more off the beaten track meeting the community here. Hike up to the top of the peninsula to take in the impressive views over the lake before enjoying lunch at a local home.
Your honeymoon adventure continues today as you hop on a tourist coach and head up through the Andean highlands into the Sacred Valley. When you arrive in Cusco’s historic Old Town, proud former capital of the Inca empire, you’ll check into your hotel and drop your bags before heading out to explore the city. Cusco’s historic heart is a lively and beautiful area packed full of charming plazas, artisan shops, and local cafés where you can grab a coffee and watch the world go by.
Today, you’ll explore the city of Cusco with your very own guide, the best way to make sure you experience all the key sights hidden away in the historic centre, as well as taking in the impressive Inca ruins nestled in the hills to the north of the city. You’ll visit Cusco’s impressive 17th-century cathedral, Koricancha and the excavated remnants of the Inca Temple of the Sun, before heading out of town to the ruins in the hills. Whether you’re a keen history buff or not, it’s impossible not to be awe-inspired by the incredible feats of Incan engineering you’ll see here.
Today, you’ll be driven into the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where you’ll check into a charming boutique hotel nestled within the Andean landscapes. The afternoon is yours to explore the area or relax, whether you want to visit the nearby fortress town of Ollantaytambo or simply unwind in the serene setting of your hotel.
This morning, you’ll hop on the train for a spectacular journey along the rails towards Machu Picchu. Disembark the train when you get to kilometre 104, to continue on foot. This full-day walk to Machu Picchu’s Sun Gate takes between five and eight hours, depending on your fitness level, but it’s well worth the effort! You’ll get your very first glimpse of Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate from afar on this final section of the Inca Trail – an unforgettable honeymoon moment for sure. Head to the nearby town to spend the night, before spending more time exploring the World Wonder tomorrow.
You’ll return to Machu Picchu with your brilliant guide this morning for a comprehensive tour of the spectacular Inca citadel. The guides are so knowledgeable here, many of them spending countless years trekking back and forth to the wonder as porters. They’re great at finding the secret spots away from the crowds, perfect for those honeymoon snaps for the photo album. If you still have some energy in the bank, you can climb Huayna Picchu mountain for a breathtaking perspective over Machu Picchu. After exploring, you’ll take the train back to the Sacred Valley of the Incas later this afternoon, ready to unwind in tranquil luxury for your final two days of honeymoon.
Spend your day today soaking up all of the natural beauty of Peru’s Sacred Valley. Perhaps take a gentle walk through nearby villages, indulge in a couple's spa treatment, or simply relax at your hotel with panoramic views of the mountains.
