About Louise
Every trip we design is personal, and that starts with our brilliant team of Destination Managers. They handpick every hotel, route and excursion based on their own first-hand experiences, love of the country and passion for making your holiday the very best it can be.
Louise, our expert in all things Latin America, first visited the region almost 20 years ago, and her love of it has shaped her travels, and her career, ever since. She’s explored plenty of its wild and rugged corners, from Patagonia’s icy wilds to the wildlife-ridden Galápagos Islands and the remote wetlands of Iberá. And along the way, she’s developed a passion for hiking, wildlife and learning all about the fascinating history of ancient civilisations, from the Aztecs to the Mayans. Day to day, she uses all that knowledge and enthusiasm to design holidays that capture the colour, culture and character of this extraordinary part of the world.
Why do you love travel?
“
It’s the sense of discovery, adventure and, most importantly, interactions with people from other parts of the world that makes every trip I go on such a joy, no matter how near or far. Whilst I am always blown away by a dramatic landscape, an encounter with unique wildlife or a stunning sunrise at a spectacular ancient monument, it is always those in-depth conversations with locals or acts of kindness shown to me by strangers in a strange land that sticks the most in my memory.
How long have you worked in travel?
“
I took off travelling around the world almost 25 years ago, after escaping a ‘sensible’ but dull corporate job in London. I crossed through South America to New Zealand, Australia and the Far East but the continent where I first landed became my travel obsession, incredible Latin America. Inspired by my Mexican godmother’s stories and my love of the colour, culture, history, wildlife and music of this vibrant part of the world, I've been smitten ever since. Since returning from that trip, I've been working in travel and have had the incredible fortune to visit some truly spectacular places in Latin America for research, I can’t believe my luck!

Find out a little more
I remember vividly sitting on the beach on the Estancia Rincon Chico estate on the Peninsula Valdes with its owner, Agustin, among a whole colony of elephant seal pups, keeping a respectful distance, naturally. The sky was blue and we had seen southern right whales the day before and an armadillo on the pathway on the way to the beach, so I was already feeling pretty fortunate! No-one had told a particularly curious seal pup to keep its distance though. It shuffled up to me very cautiously and then sniffed at my hand as I stayed stock still. It stayed by us for what seemed like forever just checking us out as we just admired this wonderful creature and wondered where it would head to next in the deep oceans. I hope it is back on that same beach some day!"
