Peru is a country that offers so much variety for a holiday. From the dense, wildlife-packed jungles of the Amazon Basin to the cobbled and colourful historic towns of the high Andean plateau. If you are equally enthralled by wildlife as you are history and culture, then this is the journey for you. Despite these extremes of climate and contrast, the two are easily combined via a very short internal flight for a diverse trip without too many long journeys.
Your holiday starts with a day to explore Lima’s vibrant historic centre and unwind on the coast. You'll then fly south-east to Puerto Maldonado, the most accessible gateway to Peru’s lush Amazon Basin, one of the most biodiverse regions on the planet. Colourful macaws, giant river otters, monkeys, reptiles, and amphibians are among the unique flora and fauna here at your riverside lodge. Then head to Cusco to explore its colonial splendour, scale the steps of the citadel at Machu Picchu, and relax in the beauty of the Sacred Valley.
