Although a relative newcomer, Karkloof has been busy redefining the luxury country retreat in KwaZulu-Natal since its opening. Located on its own game reserve, home to a wide array of antelope, zebra, giraffe and rhino as well as a  number of predators like serval and caracal, it really guarantees an escape from daily life. The spa is absolutely superb, having won award after award since its opening: for many people it is the main reason they come to Karkloof. So to ensure that you can really maximise your time being pampered in the spa, or being out on game drive amongst the wildlife of the reserve, there is a luxurious lodge to stay in as well. As you might expect, it’s luxurious and opulent. Thatched roofs cover adobe walls, and large, comfy sofas sit beneath chandeliers with views through huge windows over sun decks into the bush. As an all-round experience, Karkloof is thoroughly deserving of the many, many accolades that have come its way.
