Here's a summary of what you might get up to day-to-day on this Malaysia holiday. As always, this is just an idea. Every single day of your holiday will be tailored to suit you.
Your ultimate Malaysia holiday kicks off with an overnight flight via Kuala Lumpur or Singapore before continuing on to Malacca, the first stop on your action-packed adventure.
When you arrive in Malacca, your brilliant local guide will meet you and whisk you off to your hotel for check-in. This afternoon, you'll cruise the Malacca River, a relaxing way to start exploring the city, taking in the mix of Dutch, Portuguese, and British influences as you float past heritage buildings and old merchant houses.
A classic city tour is the perfect introduction to Malacca’s rich history and cultural diversity. You’ll explore ancient temples, colonial architecture, and local markets, gaining insight into the clash of Malay, Chinese, Indian, and European influences that make Malacca such a special place. And of course, you’ll have plenty of chances to sample its famous cuisine along the way!
You'll head to Mersing Jetty today, where a speedboat will be waiting to whisk you off in style to the crystal-clear shores of Tioman Island. A jungle-fringed island surrounded by white sand beaches and gin-clear waters, Tioman is our favourite hideaway on the east coast. Spend the next few days snorkelling, diving, trekking through the rainforest, or simply relaxing in paradise.
You'll head back to the mainland and continue your journey to Kuala Lumpur today. We’ve left this afternoon free to explore the city at your own pace, before heading out on an exciting evening tour, where you’ll dine under the stars, admiring the illuminated skyline, and taking in the KLCC Lake Symphony show.
This morning, you’ll visit the Batu Caves, an impressive limestone cave temple found at the top of a rainbow staircase – and one of Malaysia’s most iconic landmarks. The rest of the day is yours to explore, whether you choose to shop in Bukit Bintang, stroll through Chinatown, or enjoy KL’s rooftop bars and dining scene.
You'll leave the city behind and head deep into Taman Negara, Malaysia’s ancient rainforest, home to some of the world’s oldest ecosystems. Settle into your lodge before heading out to explore the jungle trails or take a walk along the canopy walkway, suspended high above the forest floor.
Taman Negara is a real wildlife hotspot, home to Malayan tigers, Asian elephants, tapirs, and Malayan gaur (seladang). Today, you'll cruise the Tahan River and trek under the forest canopy, keeping your eyes peeled for rare wildlife all the way.
You'll leave the rainforest behind and continue your adventure with a scenic drive to the Cameron Highlands today. Malaysia’s cool-climate hill station is famous for its tea plantations and endless, rolling countryside. When you get there, kick back and relax at your colonial-style hotel, enjoy high tea, or unwind with a spa treatment.
This morning, you’ll trek through the misty Montane Rainforest, searching for rare orchids and birdlife. Afterwards, you’ll visit a local tea plantation and factory, learning all about how Malaysia’s famous tea is grown, harvested, and processed. There will be plenty of opportunities to sit back with a cuppa and soak it all in, of course.
You'll journey onwards to Penang today, stopping at Perak Tong Cave Temple along the way. When you get to the city, visit Penang Hill and The Habitat, before taking a funicular railway ride down towards Georgetown’s heritage district.
It's time for a beach break! You’ll take a boat over to Langkawi this morning, where you’ll spend the next few days unwinding on beautiful beaches, snorkelling, exploring hidden coves, and sipping cocktails by the sea. There’s also the option to head out on a mangrove boat tour or ride the Langkawi Sky Bridge if you’re missing your fill of adventure.
Leave the sandy shores behind and head back to Penang today, where we've left this afternoon free for you to explore at your own pace. You might choose to walk the heritage trails, check out Penang’s famous street art, or feast on delicious food at a local hawker centre. If you'd prefer more of a structured plan today, chat to us, we have plenty of recommendations to fill your day.
Today, it's back to nature as you’ll travel to the untouched Belum Rainforest, home to hidden waterfalls, remote villages, and wild elephants. Spend the night deep in nature, with the sounds of the jungle all around you.
You'll visit Lake Banding and Belum State Park on a private tour today, searching for hornbills, macaques, and other wildlife along the water’s edge. This is one of the best-preserved rainforests in Malaysia, making it an incredible spot for eco-tourism and nature lovers.
Today, you'll journey east to Kuala Terengganu, where the coastline is famous for its pristine beaches and turtle nesting sites. If you’re lucky, you might have the chance to witness turtles nesting or hatching on the beach – a truly magical experience and a ready-made holiday highlight for sure.
You'll explore the rural countryside today, visiting traditional Malay villages and busy local markets. We’ve included a batik workshop, giving you the opportunity to learn all about this intricate fabric-dyeing art and try your hand at it yourself. It's a great way to get a little further under the skin of Malaysia, its people and its traditions. The afternoon is free for you to relax (and marvel at your creation!)
Your final island escape awaits! You’ll travel to Kota Bharu today, where you’ll board a boat to the Perhentian Islands. This is the ultimate tropical paradise, with powdery white beaches, crystal-clear waters, and some of Malaysia’s best snorkelling and diving spots. Spend your days relaxing, exploring coral reefs, or kayaking through hidden coves. Bliss.
You'll head back to the mainland by boat today, before transferring to the airport for your departure flight home. If you’re not ready for the adventure to end (and we wouldn’t blame you), why not add on a short Borneo visit to experience orangutans, pygmy elephants, and the lush jungles of Sabah and Sarawak?
