Bird Watching in Cameron Highlands

A popular destination for birders interested in montane birds, the Cameron Highlands bird watching experience is a must. Travel into the highlands with your professional birdwatching guide – binoculars at the ready! The 4WD adventure takes you to the starting point of a hiking trail over uneven terrain to get you to the very best spotting location. There are a number of locations and elevations our guides can take you to and the species spotted will vary. Spend time and patience in the highlands and you will be rewarded with some great spots and possibly also the shy mountain peacock pheasant. To help you plan, please note that May to July is migratory bird season, whereas September to March is resident bird season.

The Cameron Highlands Adventure

An in-depth experience of the Cameron Highlands – discover the famous tea plantations, trek in the mist of Mount Brinchang Mossy Forest, visit a local Tea Factory and explore the undergrowth of the rainforest on foot. Journey into the highlands by 4WD with your experienced nature guide. Photo opportunities of the plantations are aplenty before a tea tasting. From February to October the easy platform walk is available for those not keen to trek. Learn about the medicinal plants, local spices, primitive ferns and pitcher plants that grow in this region. An enlightening experience your guide will give you a rich introduction to the eco-system of the rainforests. From here head to the BOH Tea Factory for a well earn cup of the highlands finest refreshment. A local lunch will be enjoyed in a nearby restaurant to fuel you ready for the afternoon trekking. Proceed to the Montane rainforest where you will embark on a 3 hour trek discovering the diversity of the Cameron rainforest. The walk itself is relatively easy, however a maze of tree routes will mean some agility is required.

Ipoh Heritage Walking Tour

Discover the rich story of this old colonial town on a walking tour along Ipoh’s Heritage Trail. From a small village to a sprawling city, the cultural centre of town has seen a big revival and boasts a quirky art scene, boutique cafes and some delicious local food. A walking tour of Ipoh will take in the compact and historic old town area and can be shortened or lengthened to suit your timescale. Starting at the Railway Station stroll through the centre to admire the colonial architecture, grand Town Padang Mosque displaying Moghul style and the Birch Memorial clock Tower, built in 1909 in memory of James WW Birch, Perak’s first British Resident. Along the way refresh with a coffee in Old Town and get lost in the hidden cobblestone alleyways experiencing the rich culture of the old world colonial era. The walls of the old town have been restored and turned into pieces of art and old shops are now quaint cafes. Keep your eyes peeled and cameras ready for some of the interesting modern street art adorning the walls and lanes. Finish your walk heading via vibrant concubine lane, full of the best antiques in Ipoh and some excellent architecture. If time allows be sure to enjoy a dish of steamed chicken rice at one of the local Chinese eateries. A great place to soak up another side of city life in Ipoh.
