After flying into Cairo this evening, you’ll spend one night relaxing at an airport hotel before your journey towards the Nile in the morning.
You’ll make an early start this morning for your flight to Aswan. After landing, a friendly face will meet you and take you straight to your Nile cruise boat, ready to settle in for the days of adventure ahead. Most sailings include an afternoon visit to the beautiful Temple of Philae before you begin your journey along the river.
As you sail between Aswan and Luxor, your cruise will likely include stops at two remarkable riverside temples. Kom Ombo is often visited after dark, which gives it an atmospheric glow, while Edfu, one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt, is usually where you’ll moor for the night. There are a lot of different Nile cruise options available, and as always, we'll be sure to find the best one for you.
Your cruise will usually have you arriving in Luxor around lunchtime, leaving the afternoon free to explore the extraordinary temples of the East Bank, Karnak and Luxor. Both are vast, atmospheric and full of detail that your local guide will help bring to life. This evening, you can opt to return to Karnak for the Sound and Light Show, which offers a different, after-dark perspective on the complex. We'd recommend it!
This morning starts bright and early so you can make the most of Luxor’s remarkable West Bank. The Valley of the Kings is the headline act, but there’s plenty more to discover, with everything from the striking Temple of Hatshepsut to the Colossi of Memnon, Medinet Habu and the Tombs of the Workers well worth a visit. After a full morning exploring these extraordinary sites, you’ll head to the airport for a short flight to Cairo. On arrival, a friendly face will be waiting to take you to your hotel for the next two nights.
Today’s guided tour takes you through Cairo’s remarkable pyramid complexes with a brilliant local expert leading the way. You’ll begin at the iconic Pyramids and Sphinx of Giza, soaking up the scale and centuries of history they hold. Afterwards, you’ll explore the Grand Egyptian Museum, home to some of the country’s most extraordinary artefacts. The day continues at Saqqara and Dashur, where the quieter atmosphere offers a very different, and refreshingly peaceful, perspective on Egypt’s ancient engineering.
You’ll head to the airport this morning for your direct flight to Amman, Jordan’s lively capital and your first taste of the second country on your trip. On arrival, one of our team will be waiting to meet you and take you to your hotel, where you’ll settle in for a two-night stay.
After breakfast, your local guide will take you through some of Amman’s best landmarks, including the Roman amphitheatre and the hilltop citadel with its far-reaching views. From here, you’ll head north to Jerash, one of the best-preserved Roman cities in the world, where grand colonnades and temples are extremely well preserved against a scenic rural backdrop.
Today’s journey south to Petra is packed with interest and stops along the way. En route, you can choose to stop at the striking crusader castles of Kerak and Showbak, the Biblical viewpoint at Mount Nebo, or the beautiful mosaic-adorned town of Madaba. There’s also the chance to visit Little Petra, a brilliant introduction to what awaits. By late afternoon, you’ll arrive in Petra and settle into your hotel for a three-night stay.
Today is likely to be a real highlight of your Egypt and Jordan holiday, with a full day to uncover the ancient city of Petra. Your morning will be spent with a knowledgeable local guide who’ll lead you through its most famous landmarks, from the Treasury to the Monastery and the Place of High Sacrifice. The afternoon is yours to wander at your own pace, giving you time to explore this remarkable site and take it all in.
With so many remarkable corners to explore, a second day in Petra is well worth it. This time, you’ll take the quieter route from Little Petra, following a gentle trail that leads up towards the Monastery. A local guide will accompany you for the climb before leaving you to continue discovering Petra at your own pace. In the evening, you might like to join a hands-on cookery class at the Petra Kitchen, it's a brilliant, sociable way to round off the day. And you'll head home with a few new recipes up your sleeve, too.
After a holiday packed full of sightseeing, you’ll drive north for one day of relaxation at the Dead Sea. If you've got the energy for one last big adventure, we'd recommend making a detour into the Wadi Rum on route for a jeep tour through this picturesque desert before arriving at the Dead Sea later this afternoon.
Your adventure comes to an end today as you'll be driven to the airport for your flight back to the UK, full of stories of your experiences in two incredible countries.

We recently returned from a super holiday to Jordan, organised by Ian at Holiday Architects, and would not hesitate to recommend them. They organised (and re-organised) our schedule to include everywhere we wanted to go. We were so well looked after, from the moment our flight landed in Amman to when we checked in for our return flight. It was a memorable holiday. Thank you Jordan and Holiday Architects.

Had a fabulous week in Jordan thanks to Catherine from Holiday Architects. The itinerary was well planned with lots to see and do, but without feeling rushed at any point. We were well looked after by everyone right from arriving at the airport in Jordan to going the other way to come home. Jordan is a beautiful country with lovely people. We felt safe the whole time with no sign of any issues. So much history to learn about and amazing old cities to explore. A big thank you to Catherine for planning and organising a great holiday. I highly recommend Holiday Architects and look forward to my next adventure.

Our travel planner, Ian, did a truly wonderful job planning and organising our recent trip to Jordan. From start to finish we felt we were in experienced hands. All questions were addressed promptly and thoroughly. It was a wonderful holiday travelling though Jordan and seeing all the amazing archaeological and historical sites. The planning was thorough and this ensured that we did not have to worry at all about any aspect of the trip. We were simply able to sit back and enjoy the whole experience.

We travelled to Jordan for a week and it was a wonderful experience. Ian at Holiday Architects was extremely helpful and the agents on the ground could not have been more charming. The trip managed to be a combination of interesting and informative, and huge fun. The people were very welcoming and the food just heavenly. The whole experience was that rarity that actually exceeds expectations. We thoroughly recommend Jordan as a destination and will definitely choose Holiday Architects for trips in future.

Jordan was amazing. It was possible to visit so many different and wonderful places on a short trip, and we wished that we could have stayed longer. Highlights for us were staying in Wadi Rum, our camel ride at sunset, and the incredible desert landscapes; and of course, Petra, which we were lucky enough to see without the crowds. All the Jordanians we met - our guides and hotel staff - were without exception friendly and helpful; but our special thanks go to our wonderful driver, Subhi, who was excellent in every respect, who went out of his way to take us on routes he thought we might especially enjoy, and from whom we learnt so much. Thank you to Holiday Architects for arranging a great holiday, and for making us feel confident about travelling during Ramadan.

We’ve been lucky and have undertaken a number of organised/escorted trips to different countries through reputable agents, but this trip to Jordan booked and organised through Holiday Architects was the best we have ever undertaken. We can’t believe Jordan hasn’t been on our radar before now. What a country! You can probably travel extreme north to south in 5 hours and the change in scenery is amazing from lush green to deserts and wadis. There is a huge range of historical sites other than Petra to visit with some of the most preserved ruins we’ve seen. Jordan is amazing, the food is great and the people warm and welcoming. In Amman, people randomly thanked us for visiting their country and wished us a good trip. All this just 5 hours flight from the UK. We were very sad to leave and come home.
