Your tailor-made holiday will be as unique as you are. These itineraries are just a starting point – a bit of inspiration to show what’s possible. Your own trip all starts with a conversation with one of our Jordan experts, who’ll take the time to understand what matters most to you and design the perfect Jordan holiday to match.
If you've only seven days to spare, we’ve got you covered with this one-week holiday idea. Thanks to a short, 5-hour flight from London and the fact that Jordan is quite compact, seven days is plenty of time for you to really see the best of the country.
Your journey kicks off in Amman, Jordan's lively capital, with its countless ancient ruins and thriving café culture. Stroll through the Citadel, lose yourself in the maze of the old city, or grab a coffee on Rainbow Street and watch the city come alive around you. Next, you’ll venture north to Jerash, where Roman streets and towering columns will soon transport you back two millennia. It'll be hard not to imagine gladiators and chariots racing through the Hippodrome as you wander these incredibly well-preserved ruins.
Then, it’s time to head south to the crown jewel: Petra. Nothing can prepare you for your first glimpse of the Treasury, carved dramatically into rose-red cliffs. While the main sights are awe-inspiring, we’ll also let you in on a few secrets – hidden trails and quiet corners where you can experience Petra’s magic away from the crowds. After crossing the glowing orange sands of the Wadi Rum, you’ll round off your week floating in the salty stillness of the Dead Sea, a surreal and peaceful finale to a packed and unforgettable adventure.
Here's a summary of what you might get up to day-to-day on this Jordan holiday. As always, this is just an idea. Every single day of your holiday will be tailored to suit you.
Your adventure begins with a flight from the UK to Amman today, where you'll be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel for a two-night stay. Depending on your arrival time, you might wish to head straight out to explore the city or relax at your hotel before your tour of Jordan really begins.
Today, you'll be picked up for a guided tour of Amman, Jordan’s capital and largest city. You'll visit key sites such as the Citadel, which offers panoramic views over the city, and the Roman Theatre, one of the most well-preserved in the Middle East. After exploring Amman, you'll head off on a journey north to Jerash, one of the best-preserved Roman cities outside of Italy. You'll walk through its collonaded streets, see the impressive Hadrian’s Arch, the Oval Plaza, and the grand amphitheatre. Later, you'll return to Amman for the evening to grab a delicious dinner (we can recommend our favourite spots!)
You'll head off on a scenic drive along the historic King’s Highway today, an ancient trade route that has been in use for thousands of years. Your first stop is Madaba, known for its Byzantine mosaics, including the famous 6th-century map of the Holy Land at St. George’s Church. Next, you'll visit Mount Nebo, where Moses is said to have viewed the Promised Land. You'll continue to Kerak to explore its Crusader castle, a vast fortress with underground tunnels and impressive views over the surrounding landscape. This evening, you'll arrive in Petra and check into your hotel for a two-night stay.
Today, you'll be picked up for a full-day tour of Petra, Jordan’s most famous archaeological site. You'll walk through the Siq, a narrow canyon that leads to the breathtaking Treasury, Petra’s most iconic monument. From there, you'll explore the vast ancient city, seeing sites such as the Street of Facades, the Royal Tombs, and the Great Temple. If you have the energy, you can hike up to the Monastery, one of Petra’s most impressive structures, offering stunning views over the surrounding mountains. You'll return to your hotel in the evening.
You'll head off on a journey to Wadi Rum this morning, a spectacular desert landscape made famous by Lawrence of Arabia. Here, you'll hop into a 4x4 jeep with a local Bedouin guide and explore its dramatic canyons, towering rock formations, and ancient petroglyphs. After your Wadi Rum adventure, you'll continue your journey to the Dead Sea, stopping at the Panoramic Complex for incredible views over the Jordan Valley. You'll check into your hotel for a two-night stay and a bit of R&R.
We've left today free for you to relax and enjoy the unique experience of floating in the mineral-rich waters of the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth. You can take advantage of the hotel’s spa treatments, known for their therapeutic benefits, or relax by the pool. If you're interested in history, you can visit the nearby Baptism Site of Jesus at Bethany-on-the-Jordan, an important religious and archaeological site.
You'll head off on your final journey back to Amman Airport for your return flight to the UK today. If time permits, you may have a final opportunity to enjoy the Dead Sea or explore the surrounding area before your departure.
