Hotel overview

A true gem in what is otherwise a somewhat uninspiring city, the ramshackle yet wonderful La Yegua Loca is our favourite place to stay in Punta Arenas. This 1929 building is traditional in style, with high ceilings, creaky dark wooden floorboards and an eclectic mixture of furniture. Each room is unique, with a theme centred around the local industries of the area; the dairy room is kitted out with milk churns fashioned into striking lampshades and the floors are adorned with cow hides! The two room categories vary only by their views (standard city or panoramic with private balcony) and are all fairly traditional: rooms do not have TVs, but do include Wi-Fi access. A stay here includes a hearty traditional breakfast and there is a quality restaurant for evening meals. The hotels proximity to central Plaza Armas means that a number of restaurants are also available nearby, should you want to venture out and explore the city during mealtimes.
