If you only take one trip on Easter Island, this half day excursion covers a wide range of sights: from the Moai heads at Vaihu and the unrestored Akahanga through to the Rano Raraku, a once busy quarry estimated to have given life to over 900 Moai statues. Another highlight of the tour is a stop to see the fifteen proudly lined Moai at Ahu Tongariki, before concluding with some relaxation and a quick swim on the northern white sand beaches of Anakena.

This half-day shared excursion centres around the impressive extinct Rano Kau Volcano, with its sweeping views over the crater lake, island and the vast Pacific Ocean. The tour will also include the ceremonial village of Orongo where the mythical 'Birdman' competition, a heroic quest for the island’s kinship, took place. Here, you can see distinctive petroglyphs carved into the rocks. Ahus Akivi (North West)

Today you will explore three of the most important Moai sites on Easter Island, whilst also having the opportunity to see reconstructions of traditional villages, with houses that resemble upturned canoes with tiny doorways. This half-day shared excursion includes the ceremonial platforms of Ko Te Riku, Tahai and Vai Uri, as well as Moai of various shapes and sizes, all which were restored in 1974. You will continue to Ahu Akivi, to see the row of seven restored Moai; according to legend, these represent the first explorers who arrived on Rapa Nui. Finally, you shall visit the quarry at Puna Pau, where you’ll see the red stone which was used to make the pukau: the moai’s topknots or hair, which were often mistakenly confused as hats or headdresses.

Full Day Tour of Easter Island

Explore the highlights of the spectacular Easter Island with your private guide. This full-day excursion will include plenty of time to see the most impressive Moai statues found on the island, including the only Moai with eyes at Ahu Tahai and the 15 iconic Moai lined up at Ahu Tongariki. Valle de la Luna (Moon Valley)

Just a short drive from San Pedro de Atacama, the rugged, lunar-like landscapes of Moon Valley are one of the desert's true highlights. This dramatic area includes enormous, sweeping sand dunes, deep valleys and salt caves. Another distinctive feature are the many fascinating geological rock formations, which have been created through water and wind erosion as well as extreme desert temperatures. This excursion lasts for roughly three hours, including a 40-minute walk.

Salar de Atacama (Salt Flats)

Drive the hour south to the charming village of Toconao to see the pretty town square where local artisans selling their wares, as well as the historic church. Next stop is the Natural Flamingo Reserve, which is often teeming with the parading pink birds. The reserve is inside the salt flats, where you'll explore the trails and learn about the birdlife and their feeding habits before finding a spot to enjoy one of the area's spectacular and colourful sunsets. The excursion will last roughly five hours, including transfers.

El Tatio Geysers

You’ll need an early start for your excursion to El Tatio Geysers, which are located a couple of hour's drive from San Pedro de Atacama. These geothermal fields include more than eighty active geysers, with vapour columns spurting from the pools that can reach a dizzying height of up to 12 metres. Enjoy breakfast on site at dawn, before returning to your hotel for lunch. On the return journey, look out for local wildlife including vicunas, foxes and Andean ostriches. This excursion lasts between five and six hours, including transfers and a breakfast enroute, due to the early start. The area is located 4300 metres above sea level.

Not for the faint-hearted, this challenging four-hour hike allows experienced walkers the chance to trek to the summit of the impressive volcano, which is located 5000 metres above sea level. The journey on foot begins at roughly 2400 metres and during the ascent hikers are rewarded with spectacular views over neighbouring Bolivia, including the Blanca Lagoon and the vast Salar de Atacama salt flats. We highly recommend acclimatising to the altitude in San Pedro de Atacama for a few days before embarking on this trek.

Base of the Towers Hike

This world-famous hike demands stamina, but those who undertake the climb will be rewarded with impressive close up views of the three granite towers. Landscapes are rich and varied during the eight-hour walk to reach the summit: from undulating countryside scenes through to eerie lenga forests and riverside scree slopes. The last hour of the walk is the most challenging, when you must ascend the narrow paths and hike through a moraine section of loose rock. It is important to note that exposed sections of the path can attract fierce winds. At the summit, take in one of the most magnificent views in the park, before descending the same route back to your hotel. It is sensible to come dressed prepared for unpredictable weather, with water and windproof clothing as well as worn in walking shoes or boots.

Vik Vineyard

A sensational fusion of Norwegian and Chilean design, the futuristic Vik winery is as remarkable as the hotel of the same name, which is perched on the nearby hillside. Vast expanses of concrete open onto an intricate cooling system of glistening shallow water, insulating the cellar beneath which stores thousands of vintage bottles of wine. The trickling water is scattered with rocks of varying sizes, representing the different types of stone found throughout the vineyard. You will take part in a 90-minute tour, which includes an introduction to the vineyard and an overview of the production methods.
