After visiting two of the country’s most impressive crusader castles, you’ll arrive at Petra, with two full days to explore its back trails, hidden tombs and iconic sights.
No grand tour would be complete without a night in the Wadi Rum, where you'll sleep under star-filled skies and explore a landscape made famous by films like Lawrence of Arabia and The Martian. Your ultimate Jordan adventure begins with a flight from the UK to Amman, where you'll be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel for a three-night stay. Depending on your arrival time, you might want to take a short stroll around the city to get your bearings, grab your first taste of Jordanian food, or simply relax at your hotel before your journey really begins.
You'll begin your day with a tour of Jordan’s capital, Amman, today. Your private guide will take you to key sites such as the Citadel, with its ancient ruins and panoramic views, and the Roman Theatre, one of the largest amphitheatres in the Middle East. This afternoon, you'll visit Jerash, one of the best-preserved Classical cities to be found outside of Rome. Walk along its colonnaded streets, explore its impressive temples and theatres, and immerse yourself in the grandeur of this ancient Roman city.
Today, you'll journey into northern Jordan to explore its historical and natural wonders. Your first stop is Ajloun Castle, a 12th-century fortress built to defend against Crusader attacks. Next, you'll visit the Ajloun Forest Reserve, home to diverse wildlife and scenic walking trails. Finally, you'll head to Umm Qais, an ancient Greco-Roman city perched on a hilltop, offering spectacular views over the Sea of Galilee and the Golan Heights.
You'll head down part of the King’s Highway today, stopping first in Madaba, famous for its Byzantine mosaics, including the oldest known map of the Holy Land. You'll then continue to Mount Nebo, a biblical site where Moses is believed to have seen the Promised Land before passing away. From here, you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views over the landscapes, you'll want to make sure your camera is fully charged for this one. Finally, you'll arrive at the Dead Sea, where you’ll check into your hotel for a two-night stay.
Today, we've left the day clear for you to do whatever you please. Experience floating in the salty waters of the Dead Sea, treat yourself to a mineral-rich mud treatment, or unwind by the pool at your resort. If you’re interested in history, you can take an optional visit to Bethany-on-the-Jordan nearby, the site believed to be where Jesus was baptised by John the Baptist.
You'll start the day today with a visit to the Panoramic Complex, which offers stunning views over the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley. If you're feeling adventurous, you can take on the Siq Trail in the Wadi Mujib Gorge, following a river between towering cliffs to a dramatic waterfall. Later, you'll explore Kerak Castle, an impressive Crusader fortress, before continuing your journey to the beautiful Dana Nature Reserve, where you'll check into your guesthouse for the night.
Things get active today as you set off on a guided trek down Wadi Feynan, a dramatic canyon surrounded by rugged landscapes. Along the way, you'll learn about the region’s unique geology and may even spot some of the local wildlife. Your hike ends at Feynan Eco-Lodge, a remote, solar-powered retreat run by the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN). This afternoon, you’ll have the chance to explore the nearby Byzantine ruins and ancient copper mines.
You'll continue south towards Petra today, stopping first at Shobak Castle, another important Crusader fortress with spectacular views. Next, you'll visit Little Petra, a smaller archaeological site that offers a taste of what’s to come in Petra. Finally, you'll check into your Petra hotel for a three-night stay, ready for a real holiday highlight tomorrow.
You'll spend the day exploring the awe-inspiring city of Petra today, beginning with a walk through the Siq Canyon, which leads you to the breathtaking Treasury. Your first glimpse will be a sight you won't forget in a hurry! Your guided tour will take you through Petra’s main landmarks, including the Royal Tombs, the Colonnaded Street, and the grand Qasr El Bint temple, which once served as a major place of worship.
Today, you'll have the opportunity to return to Petra independently and explore at your own pace. You might choose to visit the Monastery, a spectacular site at the top of a scenic climb, or hike to the Place of High Sacrifice for panoramic views. For a unique experience, adventurous travellers can exit Petra via the Tunnel Siq, a hidden pathway used by the Nabataeans. There's also the option to return to Petra after dark, to see the iconic site lit up by the glow of hundreds of candles, it's special!
You'll have a leisurely morning today before setting off for Wadi Rum, one of the most breathtaking desert landscapes in the world. When you arrive, you'll head off on a jeep tour with a local Bedouin guide, venturing deep into the desert to discover ancient petroglyphs, dramatic rock formations, and towering sandstone cliffs. After sunset, you'll settle into a traditional desert camp, where you'll eat traditional food and spend the night under an endless canopy of stars.
You'll leave Wadi Rum today and enjoy a leisurely drive to Aqaba, Jordan’s only coastal city. Upon arrival, you'll check into your resort for a relaxing three-night stay. Aqaba is known for its Red Sea beaches, crystal-clear waters, and excellent snorkelling and diving spots.
Today, you'll have time to relax by the pool or on the beach. If you want to explore a little further, though, you can take a boat trip to Pharaoh’s Island, a small island off the coast of Egypt with a well-preserved Crusader fortress and stunning sea views. We recently returned from a super holiday to Jordan, organised by Ian at Holiday Architects, and would not hesitate to recommend them. They organised (and re-organised) our schedule to include everywhere we wanted to go. We were so well looked after, from the moment our flight landed in Amman to when we checked in for our return flight. It was a memorable holiday. Thank you Jordan and Holiday Architects.

Had a fabulous week in Jordan thanks to Catherine from Holiday Architects. The itinerary was well planned with lots to see and do, but without feeling rushed at any point. We were well looked after by everyone right from arriving at the airport in Jordan to going the other way to come home. Jordan is a beautiful country with lovely people. We felt safe the whole time with no sign of any issues. So much history to learn about and amazing old cities to explore. A big thank you to Catherine for planning and organising a great holiday. I highly recommend Holiday Architects and look forward to my next adventure.

Our travel planner, Ian, did a truly wonderful job planning and organising our recent trip to Jordan. From start to finish we felt we were in experienced hands. All questions were addressed promptly and thoroughly. It was a wonderful holiday travelling though Jordan and seeing all the amazing archaeological and historical sites. The planning was thorough and this ensured that we did not have to worry at all about any aspect of the trip. We were simply able to sit back and enjoy the whole experience.

We travelled to Jordan for a week and it was a wonderful experience. Ian at Holiday Architects was extremely helpful and the agents on the ground could not have been more charming. The trip managed to be a combination of interesting and informative, and huge fun. The people were very welcoming and the food just heavenly. The whole experience was that rarity that actually exceeds expectations. We thoroughly recommend Jordan as a destination and will definitely choose Holiday Architects for trips in future.

Jordan was amazing. It was possible to visit so many different and wonderful places on a short trip, and we wished that we could have stayed longer. Highlights for us were staying in Wadi Rum, our camel ride at sunset, and the incredible desert landscapes; and of course, Petra, which we were lucky enough to see without the crowds. All the Jordanians we met - our guides and hotel staff - were without exception friendly and helpful; but our special thanks go to our wonderful driver, Subhi, who was excellent in every respect, who went out of his way to take us on routes he thought we might especially enjoy, and from whom we learnt so much. Thank you to Holiday Architects for arranging a great holiday, and for making us feel confident about travelling during Ramadan.

We’ve been lucky and have undertaken a number of organised/escorted trips to different countries through reputable agents, but this trip to Jordan booked and organised through Holiday Architects was the best we have ever undertaken. We can’t believe Jordan hasn’t been on our radar before now. What a country! You can probably travel extreme north to south in 5 hours and the change in scenery is amazing from lush green to deserts and wadis. There is a huge range of historical sites other than Petra to visit with some of the most preserved ruins we’ve seen. Jordan is amazing, the food is great and the people warm and welcoming. In Amman, people randomly thanked us for visiting their country and wished us a good trip. All this just 5 hours flight from the UK. We were very sad to leave and come home.
