Like many other parts of culture in the country, Israel has a history of wine dating back to Biblical times. However, the most well-known and prolific producer – Golan Heights Winery, established in 1983 – was one of the first in the country to really put Israel out there on the world wine stage as a serious makers. There are now many vineyards dotted across the Galilee region of northern Israel, and it's well worth incorporating a visit into your tour of the area.
We usually pair this afternoon excursion with a some of the more historical and holy sites of Galilee, as it's an ideal activity after a longer day of exploring the region's history. You're never too far from a winery in Galilee so it's easy to slot in a tasting! All of the visitor centres run tours so you can understand more about the production of wine in Israel, and then the best bit – sample some for yourself.
We offer tailor-made holidays to suit a wide range of tastes. Our experts Catherine and Ian are dedicated to all things Jordan and are here to help you plan your perfect trip.
