Your tailor-made holiday will be as unique as you are. These itineraries are just a starting point – a bit of inspiration to show what’s possible. Your own trip all starts with a conversation with our Argentina experts, who’ll take the time to understand what matters most to you and design the perfect Argentina holiday to match.
This wildlife-focused journey through Argentina is perfect for nature lovers and outdoor explorers alike. Travelling from the tropical forests of the north to the windswept steppe of Patagonia, we've designed this route to bring together some of the country’s most remote regions, and take you far beyond the usual beaten track, with a few classic highlights thrown in for good measure.
You’ll start at the mighty Iguazú Falls, where crashing waterfalls meet jungle trails teeming with exotic birds and butterflies. Then it’s off to the vast Iberá Wetlands, one of South America’s most important ecological reserves. From your remote lodge, head out by boat or on foot in search of capybara, caiman, marsh deer and more – this is Argentina’s answer to the Pantanal, and it’s absolutely brimming with life. After a short stop in Buenos Aires, continue south to Peninsula Valdés, a rugged stretch of coastline that plays host to whales (in season), elephant seals and huge penguin colonies. You’ll finish in Glaciers National Park, where the towering face of Perito Moreno Glacier is a suitably spectacular end to your adventure.
This is a brilliant trip for anyone keen to get off the beaten track and experience Argentina’s wild side – full of memorable encounters, dramatic landscapes, and plenty of wide open space along the way.

Here's a summary of what you might get up to day-to-day on this Argentina holiday. As always, this is just an idea. Every single day of your holiday will be tailored to suit you.
Expand All
Your adventure begins with an overnight flight from London to either São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro, before connecting onwards to Iguazu Falls where you'll land tomorrow morning.
You'll touch down in Foz do Iguaçu today and head straight to the Brazilian side of Iguazu Falls, where panoramic walkways offer some seriously breathtaking views. After soaking it all in, cross the border into Argentina and settle into Puerto Iguazú, your base for the next two nights
Get up close to the thundering Iguazu Falls from the Argentine side in dramatic fashion today, where a network of trails takes you deep into the rainforest. Walk across bridges that bring you right to the edge of the Devil’s Throat, the most dramatic cascade of them all.
Today you'll board a small aircraft for a scenic flight over some truly special landscapes, before landing in the Esteros del Iberá wetlands. This remote wildlife haven will be your home for the next three nights, offering a chance to experience Argentina’s wild side and start ticking off that wildlife-viewing wishlist.
Today, you'll explore the wetlands further with a boat trip gliding through the winding waterways, journeying deeper into the Iberá marshes, keeping an eye out for caiman, capybaras, and Jabiru storks as you go. The birdlife here is spectacular, with kingfishers and herons flitting between reeds. Round off the experience with a classic asado lunch under the open sky.
Saddle up for a gentle horseback ride across the grasslands today. There's no experience needed as you'll be accompanied by expert guides who will be sure to show you the ropes and take things as slowly as you need. This evening, you'll head out after dark on a night safari to spot monkeys, foxes, and other nocturnal creatures lurking in the moonlight before winding down with a night cap back at your accommodation.
Another scenic flight takes you back over the wetlands today, where deer scatter beneath you as you soar overhead. From Posadas, you'll hop on a quick domestic flight back to Buenos Aires, Argentina’s buzzing capital, where grand architecture, leafy boulevards, and a lively café culture await.
Today, you'll take a private guided tour around the city's best bits, as well as some lesser-known treasures. From the sleek waterfront of Puerto Madero to the elegant streets of Recoleta and the colourful houses of La Boca, there's plenty to see and your local guide will make sure you experience the best of it.
Leave Buenos Aires behind today as you fly south to Trelew before transferring to Puerto Madryn, your base for exploring the wildlife-rich Peninsula Valdés. On the way, visit Punta Tombo, home to thousands of Magellanic penguins, and stop by the Welsh community of Gaiman.
Today brings you to Piramides, the launch point for whale-watching boat trips (if you're visiting between July and November) to see Southern right whales in their natural habitat. If you're planning to travel during a different month, we'll tweak the plan accordingly to make sure your wildlife adventure is the best it can be. Spend the rest of the day exploring the Valdés coastline, where elephant seals and sea lions bask on the beaches.
Return to Trelew and board a flight to El Calafate, gateway to Los Glaciares National Park. Sitting on the shores of Lake Argentino, this region is home to vast steppe landscapes and some of Patagonia’s most awe-inspiring scenery.
Today, prepare to be blown away by the beauty of the Perito Moreno Glacier, an immense wall of ice that stretches across the lake. Follow walkways for panoramic views, then take a boat trip for a closer look at the towering ice cliffs. If you're lucky, you may witness the dramatic sight of ice breaking away into the water below.
Today you'll cross Lake Argentino to Estancia Cristina, a historic Patagonian ranch set in stunning surroundings. A real slice of authentic, Patagonian life. From here, you'll travel onwards by 4WD, with the road getting bumpier around every turn, before continuing on foot to the viewpoints overlooking the Upsala Glacier, one of the largest in the region.
After a quick flight back to Buenos Aires, you'll be ready to end your adventure in style with a professional tango show, where live music, dance, and a three-course dinner make for an unforgettable evening. The perfect conclusion to your wildlife-packed Argentina adventure.
It's time to say goodbye to Argentina today as you transfer to the airport in time for your overnight flight back home.

Holiday Architects, and in particular Louise, did a fantastic job organising our trip to South America. It was clear from our initial discussions that she has a detailed first-hand knowledge of the countries that we were planning to visit. Her help was invaluable in planning the trip to take in all of the places that we wanted to explore.

Finally I've got to write about our best holiday in our lives. Louise arranged everything according to our brief and listened from the first phone call. We loved Argentina and the service from Holiday Architects was impeccable. We thank Louise for making this holiday truly amazing and we are looking forward to work with her on our next trip.

We had almost 4 weeks in Argentina and Chile, mostly walking and cycling iconic trails, but also with city and wildlife visits. Holiday Architects arranged all the flights, accommodation, transfers, car hire, guides and local reps. All worked faultlessly, and every single day surpassed expectations (and we had high expectations). Both Patagonia, and HA highly recommended.

Louise has been phenomenal in planning and organising our holiday to Argentina as well as looking after us whilst there. Louise spoke to us over the phone to understand what we liked and preferences around travel, hotels etc. She suggested places we’re so glad we went – particularly the Salta region which was a revelation. All the flights, transfers and guides were organised and worked seamlessly. The hotels were great - mostly smaller boutique establishments and beautiful wineries. We now have a taste for Argentina and South America and will definitely use Holiday Architects again. Thank you Louise for making such a memorable holiday for us.

From the very first contact with Holiday Architects our experience has been flawless. Louise was our holiday planner for our 3 week trip to Argentina and we could not have asked for a better person. Louise is extremely knowledgeable about Argentina and her enthusiasm made the planning stage so much fun. A tailor made holiday is a more expensive option but it was very clear to us where our money had been spent and we visited places we’d never have thought about had we planned the trip ourselves. Overall, we were blown away by our trip to Argentina thanks to Louise and Holiday Architects. We would not hesitate to recommend them and we look forward to booking again.

Wonderful trip to Argentina. I asked Louise to design a holiday travelling from Mendoza through Salta across the Andes to the Atacama by road with a private guide – not a trip they have offered before. It all worked perfectly, we saw some beautiful places and had two terrific guides. Attention to detail was excellent throughout and thoroughly recommend this company.
