La Bamba de Areco

La Bamba de Areco is a beautiful traditional estancia in the heart of the Pampas, only 1.5 hours from Buenos Aires near San Antonio de Areco, birthplace of the gaucho culture and home to skilled leather and silver craftsmen. La Bamba is the most stylish of the estancias in the region and is also Relais & Chateaux, so you know the food is going to be great. La Bamba has kept its original colonial charm and elegance including 11 guestrooms full of style and local character, with more recent renovations giving it a boutique hotel feel.

A stay here includes all meals, served alfresco or in the dining room and often as a traditional asado barbeque paired with fine Argentinean wines. La Pulperia, with its fireplace, bar and outdoor terrace was once a meeting place for the gauchos. It is now a great tranquil retreat for some R&R, reading or enjoy a drink – perhaps a glass of wine or a traditional maté brew. Around the estancia you can of course ride, cycle, take riverside walks, watch the estancia polo team play (during the season) or even see their resident ‘horse whisperer’ in action.
