A final stop in vibrant Santiago is a great way to end your trip, perhaps dinner at a superb seafood restaurant!
Here's a summary of what you might get up to day-to-day on this Patagonia holiday. As always, this is just an idea. Every single day of your holiday will be tailored to suit you.
Your adventure begins with an overnight flight from London to Buenos Aires, Argentina’s vibrant capital, with a flight time of around 14 hours.
After touching down in Buenos Aires this morning and checking into your hotel, head off into the city to get your first glimpse of the capital's grand boulevards, leafy parks, and elegant European-style architecture. Settle in and enjoy the city's superb shopping, buzzing café culture, and relaxed afternoon pace. It's the perfect base to settle into the adventure to come.
Today, you'll explore Buenos Aires with your own private guide, taking in its contrasting neighbourhoods, highlights and secret spots. Wander through the sleek Puerto Madero waterfront, admire the Parisian-style avenues of Recoleta, and soak up the colour and character of La Boca, home to tango and street art.
Your adventure kicks up a notch today with a flight south to El Calafate, the gateway to Los Glaciares National Park in southern Patagonia. Sitting on the shores of Lake Argentino, this small town is the starting point for exploring some of Argentina’s most breathtaking ice landscapes.
Today, you'll join a small group trip to the mighty Perito Moreno Glacier, a vast wall of ice stretching across the lake. You'll admire it from a series of walkways before boarding a boat for a closer view, where you may hear the thunderous sound of ice breaking away into the water.
You'll cross Lake Argentino today to visit Estancia Cristina, a historic Patagonian ranch in a spectacular setting. It's a real taste of authentic Argentinian life and one of our favourite places to go in the area. Explore the rugged terrain by 4WD and on foot, taking in panoramic views of the Upsala Glacier and surrounding mountains. There are so many adventures to enjoy here, just chat to us about which might be best suited to you.
A short flight today takes you to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world. Here, you'll embark on your expedition cruise, sailing through the Beagle Channel towards Cape Horn, the legendary meeting point of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. This is a real once in a lifetime experience and a chance to explore a corner of the world so few people ever get to see.
Weather permitting, you'll step ashore at Cape Horn today, a remote, windswept promontory tucked away at the edge of the world. Later, you'll explore Wulaia Bay, an area rich in history and once home to the indigenous Yamana people.
An overnight sailing brings you to Pia Glacier today, where you'll have the chance to explore the fjord by Zodiac boat, landing for a short hike with incredible glacier views. Later, you'll visit the Garibaldi Glacier, a wild and dramatic setting surrounded by steep mountains.
Today you'll sail into Agostini Sound, a remote fjord framed by the Darwin Mountains, where glaciers descend straight into the water. You'll explore by Zodiac, getting up close to these towering ice fields with your expedition guides.
This morning, you'll step ashore on Magdalena Island, home to a huge colony of Magellanic penguins (best seen between October and March). You'll disembark and leave your crew behind in Punta Arenas, Chile, before transferring on to Puerto Natales, the gateway to Torres del Paine National Park.
Today, you'll head into Torres del Paine National Park and take on the iconic Base of the Towers hike, a challenging but rewarding trek that brings you right to the foot of three dramatic granite peaks. The scenery is unmatched here, every step will be worth the effort!
After the exertion of yesterday, we've planned a slower-paced day today as you cruise along Last Hope Sound, taking in the views over the Balmaceda and Serrano Glaciers. Once back on dry land, you'll enjoy a traditional Patagonian barbecue lunch. This well-earned feast of grilled meats and local flavours is an absolute must when in this part of the world!
You'll return to Punta Arenas today for a flight north to Santiago, Chile’s cosmopolitan capital, framed by the Andes and surrounding wine country. This will be your base for the final two nights of your Patagonian adventure.
Today, your private guide will take you through Santiago’s historic and modern districts. The guides are brilliant here, absolutely packed with knowledge and the know-how to find those lesser-visited local spots. You'll have the chance to climb or take a gondola to the top of San Cristobal Hill, where breathtaking views of the city and mountains await.
Your big adventure comes to an end today with a transfer back to the airport for your overnight flight back to London.
