Your tailor-made holiday will be as unique as you are. These itineraries are just a starting point, a bit of inspiration to show what’s possible. Your own trip all starts with a conversation with one of our Egypt experts, who’ll take the time to understand what matters most to you and design the perfect Egypt holiday to match.
For those who would prefer to avoid Cairo's somewhat overwhelming atmosphere yet still want to take in some of Egypt's cultural big-hitters, this itinerary should fit perfectly. Skipping Cairo entirely (you may need to transit through the airport, which is a fairly painless process) you'll find yourself ensconced on the banks of the Nile, taking in the frankly astounding sights that Luxor has to offer. With your private guide, you'll be able to explore Karnak and the Valley of the Kings whilst nimbly dodging the larger tourist groups that visit from the cruise boats. Once you have had your fill of history and temples, you'll be shepherded over to the blue waters of the Red Sea where you can enjoy some swim, snorkel and dive or just do nothing and relax by the pool or in the spa!
Here's a summary of what you might get up to day-to-day on this Egypt holiday. As always, this is just an idea. Every single day of your trip will be tailored to suit you.
You arrive at Luxor airport where you’ll be greeted on arrival and transferred to your hotel for a three night stay.
You have a full day private tour of the West Bank with your expert local guide. Visit the impressive Valley of the Kings which is where you'll discover the Tomb of Tutenkhamen. Next, you'll venture into the Valley of the Queens, the resting place of queens and royal children. The highlights continue as you visit the Temples of Hatshepsut, Ramesseum and Medinat Habu. Finally, you visit the Colossi of Memnon to gaze at the towering statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III, standing as silent guardians of the ancient landscape
This morning you visit the impressive sites of the East Bank, the Temples of Luxor and Karnak. This evening you return to Karnak for an impressive sound & light show which delves into the captivating stories of Egypt, enhanced by meticulously crafted lights and music.
You travel onto the Red Sea. There are a few locations you can settle into; Sharm El Sheikh would be reached by a short flight, otherwise the Hurghada coast is a 3-4 hour drive away.
If staying in Hurghada or Marsa Alam you can book a snorkelling trip from Abu Dabbab Beach to swim with the majestic dugong's.
Another day at your leisure. The hotels on Egypt's Red Sea tend to overflow with faciilties, from top-end spas and scuba diving to squash, badminton and tennis.
A final day to relax and unwind before your journey home tomorrow. Hotels in the Sinai Peninsula are within reach of St Catherine's Monastery should you fancy one more bit of history and culture.
You depart the Red Sea and fly home.
