Your tailor-made holiday will be as unique as you are. These itineraries are just a starting point, a bit of inspiration to show what’s possible. Your own trip all starts with a conversation with one of our Egypt experts, who’ll take the time to understand what matters most to you and design the perfect Egypt holiday to match.
We've designed this holiday to be a tempting introduction to Egypt, allowing visitors to take in the unforgettable Pyramids of Giza before indulging in a week of relaxation and water sports at the Red Sea.
A detailed exploration of Egypt’s diverse cultural and historical treasures can be a bit of an imposing prospect for the casual visitor. However, virtually everybody has the only remaining survivor of the original “Seven Wonders of the World” on their bucket list, and there are plenty of other attractions in Cairo to keep you busy for three full days. After this, it’s all about sunshine and relaxation at the Red Sea, with the possibility of swimming with Dugongs and trying out some kitesurfing, treating yourself to a spa treatment or exploring some of the planet’s best scuba diving sites.
Here's a summary of what you might get up to day-to-day on this Egypt holiday. As always, this is just an idea. Every single day of your trip will be tailored to suit you.
Your international flight leaves the UK in the afternoon and will arrives in Egypt this evening. You’ll be greeted on arrival by our brillaint team and transferred to one of our favourite hotels in the city for a four night stay.
Today you'll start your Egypt adventure with a guided journey through Cairo’s remarkable pyramid complexes. You'll begin at the iconic Pyramids and Sphinx of Giza, taking in the scale and detail of a site that really does live up to its reputation. From here, you’ll head to the Grand Egyptian Museum to see some of the country’s most treasured artefacts. Later, you’ll continue to Saqqara and Dashur, quieter, equally intriguing pyramid sites that offer a far calmer experience than lively Giza.
Today’s tour takes you into Islamic Cairo, where you'll uncover some of the city’s most atmospheric streets and historic landmarks. You’ll begin in Khan El Khalili, wandering past stalls piled high with spices, textiles and handcrafted treasures. From here, your brilliant local guide will lead you to several of Cairo’s most significant mosques: Al-Azhar with its distinctive white marble, the expansive Ibn Tulun, and the striking pair of Sultan Hassan and Al Rifa’i.
You’ll end your day's adventures at the Citadel of Saladin, an impressive hilltop fortress with sweeping views across the city and a real sense of Cairo’s long, layered history.
Today you'll travel to one of the most accessible of Egypt’s oases, Fayoum. Arriving in the historically rich Tunis Village, you'll explore a thriving community of artisans and their incredible pottery collections. Take in the scenery of Lake Qurun before heading to the stunning Wadi El Rayan, a protected area known for its twin waterfalls. Time permitting, you can continue out to Wadi Hitan (Valley of the Whales) where you'll discover a one-of-a-kind outdoor museum of fossilised whales.
This morning you’ll fly to Sharm El Sheikh, ready for the relaxing section of your Egypt holiday. A friendly face will be waiting to meet you at the airport and whisk you off to your hotel on the coast. After a scenic drive, you'll arrive in the laid-back coastal town of Dahab where you'll be based for six nights of sunshine, calm beaches, coral reefs and a good dose of R&R.
Your time on the Red Sea is all about slowing down and enjoying the beauty of the coast at your own pace. Spend your days however you choose – head off for a spot of world-class diving and snorkelling, try your hand at kitesurfing or simply settle into a good book by the water. Many of the hotels have lovely spas on hand for some extra indulgence, and if you’re keen to sprinkle in a little more culture, we can arrange a visit to Mount Sinai and the Monastery of St Catherine. Otherwise, these final days are yours to relax, recharge and soak up the sunshine before heading home.
After one final breakfast and a last relaxing morning, you’ll be driven to the airport for a short domestic flight to Cairo. Here, you’ll connect with your flight back to the UK, which will land this evening.
