Your tailor-made holiday will be as unique as you are. These itineraries are just a starting point, a bit of inspiration to show what’s possible. Your own trip all starts with a conversation with one of our India experts, who’ll take the time to understand what matters most to you and design the perfect holiday to match.
Perfect for first-time visitors to India, or for those with limited time, our 'Taj and Tigers' trip is a brilliant blend of iconic highlights and wildlife experiences. We've designed this India holiday to focus on the iconic Golden Triangle route, with the opportunity to see tigers in the wild included for good measure. You'll visit the ancient cities of Delhi, Agra and the Pink City of Jaipur, India's 'Golden Triangle', and each packed full with beautiful forts, palaces and temples. You'll visit Humayun's Tomb, the bustling market of Chandni Chowk, the imposing Amber Fort, and – of course – the magnificent Taj Mahal. After soaking up the sights, enjoy the wilderness of Ranthambore National Park, home to the wild Bengal tiger, leopards, sloth bear, deer and more.
Here's a summary of what you might get up to day-to-day on this India holiday. As always, this is just an idea. Every single day of your trip will be tailored to suit you.
Your India holiday begins today with an overnight flight to Delhi from the UK. As always, chat to us and we'll help find the best flight option for you.
This morning, after landing in Delhi, you'll be met by our friendly team on the ground. Your friendly driver will be with you for the whole duration of your trip, and for starters, will whisk you off to your first hotel in the city. Spend the remainder of your day unwinding after your long flight, settle into your hotel and perhaps head out to get your bearings in the city.
Today, you'll spend the day exploring the contrasting areas of Old and New Delhi on a brilliant, private city tour. Including the ancient monuments of Humayun's Tomb and Qutab Minar and the bustling bazaars and narrow streets of Chandi Chowk, this is a fascinating introduction to the sights and sounds of the capital. Plus, with your local guide, you'll know you're taking in all of the highlights, as well as some lesser-visited hidden sights that are all too easy to miss.
This morning is an experience in itself as you'll take the train to Agra, gliding through rural villages and farmland along the way. This afternoon, you'll head off for a tour of Agra, including visits to the Red Fort and tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah. Watch the sun set behind the Taj Mahal from the Mehtab Bagh gardens before heading out for a delicious dinner in the city.
An early start awaits today, but it's a worthy one! Sunrise is an ideal time to visit the legendary Taj Mahal, with fewer tourists and softer light than later in the day. Spend as much time as you can taking it all in, you'll have seen plenty of photos, but nothing compares with seeing it with your own eyes. This afternoon, you'll head to Bharatpur via the abandoned city of Fatehpur Sikri, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From here, hop on the train to Sawai Madhopur - the closest station to Ranthambore National Park. Here, you'll be met and driven to your accommodation for the next two nights.
Ranthambore National Park offers the best chance of seeing a tiger in Rajasthan, so we'll keep our fingers firmly crossed for you today. Track the elusive cat on morning and afternoon jeep drives through rugged terrain. Keep an eye out for the park’s other residents along the way, including grey langur, wild boar, Indian leopard, sloth bear, rhesus macaque, nilgai and striped hyena.
Enjoy your final game drive in the park this morning before a leisurely breakfast back at your hotel. Then it'll be time to head to the Pink City of Jaipur, a journey of around four hours. Later, enjoy our Jaipur Bazaar Walking Tour with the chance to meet local artisans and sample the ‘real’ food of the city with your private guide.
Jaipur is home to fine havelis, intricate forts and lavish palaces. You'll start your day with a guided visit to the magnificent Amber Fort, a real highlight. Back in the city, you'll enjoy a private tour of the top sights, including the Palace and Jantar Mantar Royal Observatory.
This morning, you'll enjoy a morning walk through a Meena tribal village. A special opportunity to get a real and authentic taste of the cultures in this part of India. Afterwards, you'll journey back to Delhi with your driver, which should take around five hours. Spend the remainder of your evening at leisure, heading out for a delicious dinner to toast your India adventure. Of course, we'd be more than happy to recommend our favourite spots!
Your adventure comes to an end today as it's time to transfer to Delhi Airport in time for your return flight home. Until next time, India!
