Ranthambore Fort lies in the centre of the national park and is said to date back to the 10th century. Its battlements stretch out over the Aravali Hills. Although the interior structures are mostly in ruins, it offers wonderful views of the park and lakes inside the park. The Ganesh Temple, still used and visited by hundreds of worshipers daily, can be found within the boundary walls of the fort as well. To travel to the fort, your driver will take the road from the park entrance gate to the entrance of the fort structure at Joghi Mahal Gate. Tiger and leopard are occasionally spotted on this road, although this of course cannot be guaranteed. There is, however, a reasonable chance of seeing spotted deer, sambar deer and monkeys along this route.
