Hotel overview

The ITC Mughal sits within 35 acres of gardens, pathways and ponds just five minutes from the famous Taj Mahal. It’s a large hotel with 233 rooms, many of which have undergone renovation in recent years. There are two swimming pools, a spa, mini golf and complimentary yoga on offer along with three great restaurants. Bukhara is considered to be one of the finest restaurants in town. The rooms are characterful and elegant; expect marble floors, big beds, decorative rugs, lamps and bathtubs. You’ll even find views of the Taj Mahal in their observatory. This is a very comfortable and convenient hotel that offers great value for money.

Evening Walk in Kachpura Village

Our evening heritage walking tour takes you through traditional villages perched on the banks of the Yamuna River, just across from The Taj Mahal. Not only does it provide some alternative views of The Taj Mahal but also a fascinating insight into traditional village life and the rich architectural heritage of India. This walking tour is a part of a community development project that aims to provide employment through tourism. As a result, a local person will guide you. This tour can be done at any time but we recommend starting at around 4pm.

Agra Passing By - The Highlights Tour

This half-day tour is designed for those just stopping in Agra between Delhi and Jaipur. It takes in the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. The Taj Mahal was described by Rudyard Kipling as 'the embodiment of all things pure' and it is widely regarded as the most beautiful building in the world and a jewel of Muslim art in India. This magnificent mausoleum of white marble was built between 1631 and 1648 by Shah Jahan as a memorial to this third wife, Mumtaz Mahal, who died giving birth to their third child. The best times to view the Taj are early morning and late afternoon when the light is low. However, whenever you visit, do take the opportunity to find yourself a quiet corner to sit awhile. You only need to move a hundred metres from where everyone else walks and you could be a million miles away You will  continue on and visit Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fort is huge, with 20-metre-high walls and a two-and-a-half-kilometre circumference.

Taj Mahal at Sunset

The Taj Mahal was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 and it arguably looks as immaculate today as it did in 1648. Its creator, Emperor Shah Jahan, said it made 'the sun and moon shed tears from their eyes' and it's easy to see why. We highly recommend visiting this spectacular monument at different times of the day when the white marble reflects the nuances of the changing light from the sun. Sunset is a spectacular time to visit, as crowds of visiting tourists tend to dissipate so that the mausoleum can be enjoyed in more peaceful surroundings. It's also a fantastic time of day for photography.  Do take the opportunity to find yourself a quiet corner to sit awhile. You only need to move a hundred metres from where everyone else walks and you could be a million miles away.
