Canyon Lodge

Situated roughly 20km from the headline attraction in the area, Canyon Lodge is an excellent option for those not overly concerned with staying right next to the Fish River Canyon itself. The lodge has 25 natural stone chalets, attractively set amidst rugged brown granite rocks into which the buildings often seem to camouflage. The rooms are spacious, cool and comfortable, with stone floors and walls keeping everything cool under the high thatched roof, even during the hottest desert conditions.

The main area is decorated in the style of many Namibian guest farms, with a smattering of colonial touches in the restaurant and bar areas. Outside there is a shaded terrace and swimming pool, extremely inviting in an area that can become extremely hot. Even though you are not looking directly out to the canyon, the scenery surrounding the lodge is stunning, reminiscent at times of Damaraland's mountains and the desert plains of the Namibrand. It is easy to drive yourself to the canyon, or book tours on foot or by vehicle through the lodge.
