Your tailor-made holiday will be as unique as you are. These itineraries are just a starting point, a bit of inspiration to show what’s possible. Your own trip all starts with a conversation with one of our Namibia experts, who’ll take the time to understand what matters most to you and design the perfect holiday to match.
If you’re passionate about wildlife and the efforts made to protect it, we've designed this itinerary to combine sightings of Namibia’s most iconic species with visits to some of its most respected conservation projects. All whilst staying in some seriously special spots along the way.
You’ll begin at Okonjima Reserve, where the AfriCat Foundation leads efforts to protect leopard, cheetah, hyena and other predators. Then it’s on to Etosha National Park, where you’ll explore at your own pace and take part in a rhino monitoring project. Finally, you’ll head west to Damaraland for an unforgettable stay at Desert Rhino Camp, where you’ll track black rhino on foot with field researchers from the Save the Rhino Trust.
Namibia is an enlightened eco-tourism destination, and with rhino tracking, big cat encounters, and the chance to contribute to real conservation work, this is an adventure that goes deeper than your standard safari.
Here's a summary of what you might get up to day-to-day on this Namibia holiday. As always, this is just an idea. Every single day of your trip will be tailored to suit you.
Your wildlife and conservation adventure begins with an overnight flight from the UK to Johannesburg, ready to connect to Namibia’s capital tomorrow.
After a short flight from Johannesburg, you’ll be met at Windhoek airport and whisked off to your hotel. Later, your 4WD hire car will be delivered and you’ll be fully briefed on your route, the car and given plenty of top tips for driving in Namibia. For dinner, try Joe’s Beerhouse or The Olive, two very different local favourites.
After breakfast, you'll check out of your lodge and take your time driving west across Etosha. Be sure to stop at key waterholes along the way, where you'll have the chance to spot elephant, lion, giraffe, zebra, and dozens of other species. Tonight you’ll stay near the park’s southern gate.
Today, you'll leave the savannah behind and drive west into Damaraland, where the scenery shifts to mountains, dry riverbeds and wide open space. You’ll stay for two nights in the Palmwag Concession at the incredible Desert Rhino Camp. Operated in partnership with the Save the Rhino Trust, this is the home of your next unforgettable conservation experience.
Today, you’ll set out with expert guides and researchers to track free-roaming black rhino through the remote and rocky landscape. You’ll learn how to read tracks, identify individuals, and help collect data with a SRT researcher – all while surrounded by some of Namibia’s most spectacular scenery.
Today, it's time to head to Twyfelfontein in southern Damaraland for a one-night stay close to the famous ancient San rock engravings. Of course, chat to us if this is something you'd be interested in including.
Today, you’ll drive east into the Erongo Mountains, where rugged kopjes and dry forests make for a brilliant spot for a rewarding hike. You'll head off on a guided nature walk this afternoon to explore the landscape and spot local birdlife, antelope and rock hyrax.
