Your tailor-made holiday will be as unique as you are. These itineraries are just a starting point, a bit of inspiration to show what’s possible. Your own trip all starts with a conversation with one of our Namibia experts, who’ll take the time to understand what matters most to you and design the perfect holiday to match.
If you're dreaming of experiencing classic Namibia (the red dunes, dramatic coastlines, ancient rock art and big game safaris!), we've designed this fly-in itinerary to be a shortcut to all the highlights, without the long drives.
First-time Namibia visitors often have a classic route in mind when they visit, hoping to cover the renowned highlights of Sossusvlei, Swakopmund, Damaraland and Etosha. This route is so popular that it’s now possible to travel via a scheduled circuit of light aircraft flights in this clockwise direction, helping to make a fly-in safari less pricey than you might think. Although we think driving in Namibia is a great pleasure, flying between destinations in a light aircraft means you’ll spend less time travelling and more time experiencing what makes Namibia so special.
Here's a summary of what you might get up to day-to-day on this Namibia holiday. As always, this is just an idea. Every single day of your trip will be tailored to suit you.
Fly overnight today from the UK to Johannesburg, ready to begin your scenic adventure across Namibia’s epic landscapes.
After a short connection in Johannesburg, you’ll arrive in Namibia’s capital today and be met at the airport for a short transfer to your guesthouse in the leafy suburbs. You’ve got the rest of the day to relax and refresh after your long journey. This evening, why not try Joe’s Beerhouse for hearty Namibian feast, or The Olive for something a little fancier?
This morning, you’ll transfer back to the airport and take your first light aircraft flight south to Sesriem, the gateway to Sossusvlei. On landing, you’ll be met and driven to your lodge, set in a private reserve overlooking the dramatic desert scenery. Spend the afternoon soaking up the views, or take a dip in the pool with a cool, well-deserved drink and toast the adventures to come.
Today’s guided excursion takes you deep into the Namib-Naukluft National Park, home to the world’s tallest sand dunes. Climb Big Daddy dune, wander through the surreal white clay pans of Deadvlei, and watch how the light changes as the sun rises over the desert. After all of that excitement, head back to your lodge for a relaxed afternoon.
It’s time to take to the skies again as you hop aboard your next flight and travel north over the eerie and remote Skeleton Coast, with the chance to spot dune fields, dry riverbeds and shipwrecks from above. After landing in Swakopmund, you’ll be whisked off to your central guesthouse for a two-night stay.
You’ve got a full day to explore this German-influenced town at your own pace today. Optional excursions can include kayaking with seals at Pelican Point, scenic desert drives to search for small critters, or sandboarding and quad biking on the dunes if you fancy something a little more adventurous! As always, just chat to us about you might fancy filling your time with and we'll do our best to make it happen.
Today’s flight takes you inland to Damaraland, where rugged mountains and ancient riverbeds stretch out as far as your eye can see. You’ll be based in the Twyfelfontein Conservancy, surrounded by boulder-strewn landscapes and sculptural rock formations.
There’s plenty to see and do in this striking region today. Join a nature drive in search of Namibia's desert-adapted elephant or visit the ancient San rock engravings at Twyfelfontein, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that's well worth a trip! Back at your lodge, tuck into a tasty dinner and watch the light shift across the landscape as the sun dips.
You’ll be transferred to the airstrip this morning for your flight to Ongava Private Reserve, just outside Etosha National Park. Settle into your safari lodge and enjoy an afternoon at leisure, or opt to join an evening activity. From sundowner game drives to night-time waterhole watching, there are plenty of wild encounters waiting for you here.
Two guided safari activities are included today. Explore Ongava Reserve, home to lion, giraffe and both black and white rhino – the latter of which can sometimes be tracked on foot. We'd hugely recommend experiencing this if the opportunity is there! Game drives into Etosha itself are also an option, offering the chance to spot herds of zebra, springbok and even elephant around the park’s famous salt pans. Return to your lodge to enjoy one final Namibian dinner before your journey home tomorrow.
After breakfast, you’ll fly south back to Windhoek, before connecting onto your short international flight to Johannesburg and overnight flight back to the UK. We hope you'll be flying home with hearts full of Namibia's sights, wildlife and magical landscapes.
