Sidecar Tour of Marrakesh

This tour of Marrakesh shows you the city in style – in a vintage sidecar led by a professional tour guide! These trips are flexible, meaning you can pick and choose any particular interests that suit you and your guide will take you there. That could be anything from history and architecture, food and markets, or where in the medina you can find the very best photo opportunities. These are half-day experiences so you have plenty of time to really get under the skin of beautiful Marrakesh, all while zipping along in one of these unique vehicles. You can also head out of the medina to other parts of the city, including the lush Palmeraie and the new parts of Marrakesh., where life ticks along at a different pace. Marrakesh Food Tasting Tour

You will explore the culinary wonders of Marrakesh with an English speaking guide. Walk inside the old Medina and stop at one of the traditional bakeries; see the furnace that heats the local public steam bath and where locals occasionally bring to the keeper a sealed pot of stewed lamb or beef called "Tangia”, to be slow-cooked in the ashes for many hours. The guide will give detailed explanations on how this recipe is prepared. We explore local food markets and stop at the spice square to learn about the herbs and spices used in the Moroccan cooking. A short break on this square has been planned in order to taste some traditional Marrakesh herbal tea on one of the roof terraces overlooking the square. Your guide will continue the tour showing you different food markets selling preserved meat, dry fruits and nuts, olives, preserved lemons and mint, before stopping by the shops preparing and selling steamed and roasted lamb. As you arrive on the main square of Jemaa el-Fna, you will find a large space dedicated to local people and visitors seeking delicious and rare traditional recipes. Stroll around the stalls offering lots of local specialities from freshly squeezed Moroccan orange juice to the special hot spiced tea, and from different Moroccan soup and stew stalls to the snail bars. After exploring this square, classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, you will sit and have your dinner in one of the colourful stalls in the famous square and enjoy the atmosphere before heading back to your riad.

Majorelle Gardens & YSL Museum

This tour from Marrakesh takes in a number of museums and a couple of beautiful gardens: all of them are tucked away and provide educational and informative respite from the bustle of the city. Bert Flint, a Dutch anthropologist and long-time resident of Marrakesh, has spent a lifetime studying and visiting all the peoples of the Sahara along the trade routes from Morocco to Timbuktu, and collected an impressive array of artefacts along the way. These form the basis of the Maison Tiskiwin museum, as good an overview of the culture and history of the region as you’ll find. Next door is the Dar Si Said Museum, a small 19th Century palace, and home to an interesting and attractive collection of traditional Marrakesh arts and crafts dating back many generations. From here you head just outside the city walls to the Jardin Majorelle. Created by a French painter, the compact and attractive garden houses plants from across the globe, dotted with fountains and hiding a beautiful villa. The villa and fountains are painted an electric and eye-catching blue colour and it’s perhaps this boldness which appealed so much to Yves Saint-Laurent that he bought the gardens! The former director and designer at the Jardin Majorelle, Mr Chabane, has a gorgeous garden and museum in the Palmeraie outside the city, where he keeps a private art gallery of contemporary Moroccan artists, and this will be the final stop for the day.

Hot Air Balloon Marrakesh

Early this morning we have arranged for you to have a hot air balloon ride over Marrakesh Palmeraie, which will be a truly unforgettable experience! Weather conditions permitting, you will leave before sunrise to the open beautiful countryside north of the oasis of Marrakesh. See the balloon being prepared for flight before you board and then you'll fly for approximately one hour, depending on the wind. Enjoy the view of local villages beginning their day, and witness stunning desert like landscapes; in the meantime your highly qualified pilot is in constant radio contact with the retrieve crew following up in 4X4 vehicles. After landing you will be invited for a delicious traditional breakfast in a local home of one of the Berber villages which you flew over, before returning back to your Marrakesh accommodation.
