Your tailor-made holiday will be as unique as you are. These itineraries are just a starting point, a bit of inspiration to show what’s possible. Your own trip all starts with a conversation with one of our Uganda experts, who’ll take the time to understand what matters most to you and design the perfect holiday to match.
Combining Ugandan wildlife with Tanzanian beach time makes for a fantastic mix of active exploration, safari adventure, and well-earned relaxation. We recommend overnighting in Entebbe before heading into the forest to trek with the chimpanzees of Kibale. From here, Queen Elizabeth National Park offers a more classic safari experience, and you’ll round off your time in Uganda with a mesmerising trek through tropical rainforest to spend time with the gorillas.
You’ll then fly back to Entebbe for an overnight stay before continuing your journey to Zanzibar. Here, you’ll overnight in historic Stone Town before finishing your trip in style on the beach. Zanzibar offers a wide range of accommodation, from larger all-inclusive resorts to smaller, more intimate boutique-style hotels.
Here's a summary of what you might get up to day-to-day on this Uganda holiday. As always, this is just an idea. Every single day of your trip will be tailored to suit you.
Fly overnight to Entebbe via your chosen transit destination. On arrival, you’ll be transferred to your hotel for a relaxing afternoon as you prepare for the journey ahead.
Depart Entebbe and travel to Fort Portal, passing through tea plantations and lush green countryside. In the afternoon, explore Bigodi Swamp, a community-led initiative focused on protecting the local environment and wildlife. The swamp is home to several monkey species, as well as a rich variety of plants and birds.
Spend the morning with your expert guide tracking chimpanzees through the forest. This afternoon, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, where you can relax at your lodge and take in the beautiful landscape and peaceful surroundings.
Spend the morning tracking lions with a researcher and learning about the vital conservation work they’re doing. After lunch, head to the Mweya section of the park to board a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel.
This morning, enjoy a two-hour game drive through the Ishasha sector in search of the famous tree-climbing lions.
This morning, head out on another game drive to enjoy more wildlife viewing. Later, continue your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas.
Gorilla trek day! Arguably saving the best for last, so make sure you’ve had a good night’s sleep. You’ll want to savour every moment of the unforgettable hour spent with the gorillas.
Fly back to Entebbe for an overnight stay before continuing your journey to Zanzibar.
Fly to Dar es Salaam, then connect onto a short flight to Zanzibar, where you’ll spend the night in Stone Town.
Spend the morning exploring Stone Town before being picked up and transferred to your beach accommodation. Enjoy a leisurely afternoon to settle in and unwind.
Today is yours to enjoy at leisure. You can do as much or as little as you like, though we highly recommend taking a moment to rest and recharge on your first full day. It’s a great time to chat with the hotel staff for their recommendations on activities in the days ahead. Zanzibar is not only a stunning island paradise but also rich in history, culture, and experiences waiting to be discovered.
We recommend visiting a spice farm during your stay in Zanzibar, as the island is famous for its spice trade. While the experience can feel a little touristy, it's genuinely fascinating to see how and where different spices are grown. As you're guided around, you’ll have the chance to touch, smell, and learn about a variety of spices in their natural setting.
Spend the next two days enjoying the best of Zanzibar at your own pace. The island offers a wide range of sea-based activities, from windsurfing, kiteboarding, and snorkelling to diving and sailing. If water sports appeal to you, let us know and we’ll be happy to suggest some options.
Alternatively, take this time to simply relax on the beach, enjoy the tranquil surroundings, and fully unwind. The choice is entirely yours.
Enjoy a final morning on the beach before being picked up and transferred to the airport for your flights back to the UK. Both daytime and overnight flight options are available.
