Your tailor-made holiday will be as unique as you are. These itineraries are just a starting point – a bit of inspiration to show what’s possible. Your own trip all starts with a conversation with one of our Jordan experts, who’ll take the time to understand what matters most to you and design the perfect Jordan holiday to match.
Founded in 1966, well before environmental awareness really got going, the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature was well ahead of its time. Since then, it's played a key role in preserving Jordan’s unique ecological heritage. We’ve designed this itinerary to showcase the efforts of their hard work by taking you through the country’s most scenic reserves, all whilst taking in some of Jordan’s other unmissable highlights along the way.
The Ajloun Forest Reserve is the perfect way to begin your Natural Beauty tour. Multiple walking trails lead you through the forest, with plenty of spectacular views across rolling hills and woodlands to enjoy. From there, you’ll head to Petra – which needs no introduction! – then on to the desert for some of the most awe-inspiring landscapes and nights spent under an impressive sky full of stars.
After that, make your way to Dana Biosphere Reserve, Jordan’s largest protected area. Its secluded lands and sweeping canyons are home to many Bedouin communities, so it’s a great opportunity to get a real glimpse into traditional Jordanian life. Your adventure ends with a visit to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on land, where you can tick “true weightlessness” off your bucket list as you float unaided in the mineral-packed waters.
Here's a summary of what you might get up to day-to-day on this Jordan holiday. As always, this is just an idea. Every single day of your holiday will be tailored to suit you.
Your holiday begins with a flight from the UK to Amman, where you'll be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel for a three-night stay. Depending on your arrival time, you might want to take a short stroll to get a feel for the city or simply relax at your hotel.
You'll take a guided tour of the capital today, visiting the temples and mosques atop the Citadel Hill, where you’ll get a chance to enjoy the sweeping views over Amman. Explore some of the city's museums, such as the Jordan Museum, which showcases fascinating artefacts from the region’s history. This afternoon, you might want to head out to the Azraq Wetland Reserve, a unique oasis in the heart of the desert, where you can follow boardwalk trails and spot migratory birds that stop here on their way across the Middle East.
Spend the morning exploring Jerash, one of the best-preserved Roman cities in the world. Walk along its collonaded streets, visit the grand temples and theatres, and step back in time to Jordan’s classical past. Afterwards, you’ll continue to Ajloun to visit its imposing Arab castle, which played a key role in defending against the Crusaders. Nearby, the Ajloun Forest Reserve offers scenic walking trails through rolling oak, pine, and pistachio woodlands, a peaceful contrast to the historic sites.
You'll make your way south along the historic King’s Highway today, stopping first in Madaba to admire its famous Byzantine mosaics, including the remarkable Madaba Map, which is said to be the oldest surviving map of the Holy Land. Continue to Shobak Castle, one of Jordan’s least-excavated Crusader castles, where you can wander through the ancient ruins and take in the remote desert views. Later, you'll arrive in Petra, where you’ll check in for a three-night stay.
Today, you'll head off on a guided tour of Petra, walking through the Siq Canyon, a narrow and winding gorge that opens up to reveal the Treasury, Petra’s most iconic monument. From there, you’ll continue through the ancient city, passing the Royal Tombs, the Roman-style streets, and the impressive Qasr El Bint temple, which marks the centre of this once-thriving Nabataean metropolis. After the tour, you’ll have time to explore at your own pace.
This morning, you’ll visit Little Petra, a fascinating Nabataean site with rock-cut buildings, hidden caves, and a glimpse into everyday life in ancient Petra. From here, you'll set off on a hike over the mountains, following the scenic back route to the Monastery, one of Petra’s largest and most awe-inspiring structures. It’s a rewarding journey, with stunning views and far fewer crowds than the main entrance.
You'll leave Petra today and make your way to Wadi Rum, Jordan’s most famous desert landscape, for a two-night stay on the sands. Settle into your desert camp and soak up the surroundings – towering sandstone cliffs, endless red dunes, roaring camp fires and a sky full of stars.
Spend the whole day exploring Wadi Rum today, heading deep into the desert with a local Bedouin guide. You'll travel by 4x4 jeep to see dramatic canyons, climb natural rock bridges, and take in the incredible scenery that has remained unchanged for centuries. Along the way, you’ll learn about the desert’s fascinating geology and Bedouin culture, making this an unforgettable experience that'll gift you a richer understanding of Jordan and its people.
You'll head to Dana Nature Reserve today, one of Jordan’s most stunning and ecologically diverse landscapes. Here, you’ll hike the White Dome Trail, a scenic route that takes you around the edge of the vast canyon, offering spectacular views. Tonight, you’ll stay at the RSCN's Dana Guesthouse, perched on the cliffs overlooking the reserve.
Today, your adventures continue as you set off on a guided hike through Wadi Feynan, a dramatic canyon filled with rugged rock formations. As you make your way down, you'll pass remnants of ancient copper mines and Byzantine ruins, evidence of Jordan’s long history of settlement. Your destination is Feynan Eco-Lodge, an award-winning retreat that blends seamlessly with the surrounding desert. Spend the afternoon exploring or simply enjoying the tranquillity of this unique location.
You’ll start your day driving over the stunning Mujib Gorge today, one of Jordan’s most dramatic landscapes. Next up, you'll continue to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth, where you’ll check into your hotel for the final two nights of your trip – and some well-deserved R&R.
For your final last full day in Jordan, we've left it clear for you to unwind and make the most of your surroundings. Float effortlessly in the mineral-rich waters of the Dead Sea, relax by the pool, or treat yourself to a spa treatment using the region’s famous mud. If you're up for more exploration, you might want to visit Bethany-on-the-Jordan, the site where Jesus is believed to have been baptised.
You’ll be transferred to Amman Airport today for your return flight to the UK. If time allows, enjoy a final morning by the Dead Sea before heading off. Until next time, Jordan.
