Your tailor-made holiday will be as unique as you are. These itineraries are just a starting point – a bit of inspiration to show what’s possible. Your own trip all starts with a conversation with one of our Cambodia experts, who’ll take the time to understand what matters most to you and design the perfect Cambodia holiday to match.
This family adventure through Cambodia is all about exploring the highlights without too much rushing about. It’s been designed with a relaxed pace in mind, so there’s no constant packing and unpacking, just time to really enjoy each stop, with a great mix of discovery, culture, and beachy downtime.
You’ll kick things off in Siem Reap, spending four nights uncovering the magic of the ancient temples. There’s plenty of time to explore the big hitters like the majestic Angkor Wat and jungle-cloaked Ta Prohm, as well as lesser-known spots that feel like a real adventure. One of the highlights is a day out on Tonle Sap Lake, where you’ll take a boat trip past floating villages before sharing lunch with a local family – a brilliant way to get a feel for everyday life in the Cambodian countryside. Then it’s time to slow things down with four nights on one of Cambodia’s islands. Think soft sand, swaying palms, and calm, clear waters – it’s the perfect mid-trip breather.
You’ll end your holiday with two nights in Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s lively capital. Set off on a guided walking tour to get your bearings and hear some of the city’s stories, then enjoy a free afternoon to explore at your own pace – whether that’s wandering riverside markets, trying local snacks, or just soaking up the laid-back charm.
Here's a summary of what you might get up to day-to-day on this Cambodia holiday. As always, this is just an idea. Every single day of your holiday will be tailored to suit you.
Your Cambodian adventure begins as you board your overnight flight to Siem Reap. Get comfy, cue up a film or two, and start dreaming of jungle temples and tropical beaches.
Welcome to Cambodia! Your guide will be waiting at the airport for a private transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to relax, dip your toes in the pool, or head out for a gentle wander to soak up your first impressions of Siem Reap.
This afternoon you’ll get a taste of Cambodia’s chocolatey side with a visit to WAT Chocolate, the country’s very first bean-to-bar factory. Learn how local cacao is transformed into silky-smooth bars before indulging in plenty of samples. Later, you’ll dive into Siem Reap’s buzzing nightlife on a street food tour packed with flavour. You'll want to make sure you arrive hungry!
This morning, you’ll channel your inner explorer at Ta Prohm, the iconic ‘Tomb Raider’ temple where jungle roots snake through ancient stone. In the afternoon, your guide will show you the sprawling Angkor Thom complex and the spectacular Angkor Wat itself. With flexible timings, you can explore at a pace that suits you, no rushing required.
You’ll head out into the countryside today, winding through rice paddies and village markets en route to Tonle Sap Lake. A peaceful boat ride takes you past stilted homes and colourful boats, before a very special lunch with a local family. It’s a brilliant way to see everyday Cambodian life up close.
This is one for the family memory bank. Today you’ll head to Kulen Elephant Forest, where you’ll walk alongside rescued elephants, help feed them, and learn about the brilliant work being done to protect them. A traditional Khmer lunch is served in the forest before you head back to Siem Reap for a chilled afternoon.
Today you’ll swap temples for turquoise waters. You’ll fly to Sihanoukville, where a boat transfer will whisk you off to one of Cambodia’s island hideaways – Koh Rong, Koh Russey or Krabey. Four nights of sandy toes and sunset cocktails await. Our team know what it's like to travel around Cambodia with a family, so we'll be sure to recommend the best family-friendly beach hotels to suit you.
These next few days are all yours. Snorkel in crystal-clear waters, explore nearby islands, paddleboard at sunrise, or simply sink into a sunlounger with a good book and let island life work its magic whilst the kids play in the sand. Your hotel can help arrange anything you fancy if you want to fit some more experiences in, or you can keep things blissfully low-key.
This morning you’ll hop back across the water to Sihanoukville, where your private driver will be waiting to take you to Cambodia’s capital, Phnom Penh. Once you’ve settled into your hotel, the evening is yours. Perhaps head out for a sunset stroll along the river or enjoy a chilled drink at one of the family-friendly bars. Of course, we can recommend our favourite spots if you'd like some tips!
This morning you’ll join your guide for a relaxed walking tour through Phnom Penh’s key sights and hidden corners, with plenty of local insight along the way. They're brilliant at making it fun and engaging for young kids and big kids alike. The afternoon is yours to do as you please, hopefully with plenty of time to squeeze in one final market browse or a riverside coffee before your journey home.
If time allows, enjoy one last wander around Phnom Penh before your driver takes you to the airport for your flight home. You’ll be leaving with a suitcase full of shared family stories, wide smiles, and a serious soft spot for Cambodia.
