Your tailor-made holiday will be as unique as you are. These itineraries are just a starting point, a bit of inspiration to show what’s possible. Your own trip all starts with a conversation with one of our Botswana experts, who’ll take the time to understand what matters most to you and design the perfect holiday to match.
Mobile safaris are a classic Botswana experience, taking in all of the country's highlights in moveable camps set up anew at each fresh site. The experience now is more comfortable than in the vintage safari days they hark back to, with most participants opting for the luxury camping experience which involves spacious en-suite tents, although simpler options are on offer for those on a more limited budget. While the Central Kalahari and Makgadikgadi Pans are increasingly popular, the classic mobile route takes in the big game hot spots of Chobe, Savute and Moremi, along with time in Livingstone to see the magnificent Victoria Falls.
Here's a summary of what you might get up to day-to-day on this Botswana holiday. As always, this is just an idea. Every single day of your trip will be tailored to suit you.
Your adventure begins with an overnight flight from London to Johannesburg.
Connect with a flight to Livingstone, where you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel for a two-night stay close to the magnificent Victoria Falls.
A day at leisure, although there are so many Livingstone activities that you might want to book in advance, including white water rafting and helicopter flights.
Your mobile safari begins in earnest as you transfer to the Kazangula border for a private boat transfer into the Chobe National Park. Camp is set up in a secluded site within the park for two nights, where you will be perfectly positioned to enjoy your first safari experiences of the trip. Whilst here you can enjoy a variety of activities, including game drives and boat cruises along the beautiful Chobe Riverfront.
Mobile safaris provide the rare opportunity to drive through the heart of the national park to the Savute area, on the western border with the Linyanti Wetlands. Camp will again be set up for two nights here.
You'll enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in this legendary part of the country, with the Marsh and the now flowing Savute Channel among the highlights, as well as the rock art paintings at Gubatsa Hills.
A long drive south to the Khwai River sector of the Moremi Game Reserve. While the late afternoon arrival makes a further activity unlikely, the entire transfer will be one long game drive!
Tomorrow you will enjoy a full day of game viewing activities in the eastern Moremi.
Camp is broken up this morning and you'll head east to the verdant Xakanaxa region of the Moremi. There will be time for a short afternoon game drive after you have settled into camp.
Your second day here will include morning and afternoon game drives in the teeming Xakanaxa area, one of the Delta's finest wildlife viewing destinations.
After breakfast you'll be driven to Maun for a flight down to Johannesburg. Your homeward flight travels through the night.
