Excursion Overview
Huayna Picchu is the imposing green peak that forms part of the iconic backdrop to Machu Picchu, and it is possible to climb to the top to take in some breath-taking views. Tickets are required to climb the mountain, available for two morning slots, and must be purchased at the same time as your Machu Picchu entrance – given the popularity of the hike we recommend booking as early as possible if you are interested in this! You will need a reasonable level of fitness for the climb as well as a head for heights as there are some steep ascents in descents in exposed parts of the mountain, but those who make it to the top are rewarded by a spectacular birds-eye view of Machu Picchu that offers you a completely different perspective of the Inca citadel.
