Your tailor-made holiday will be as unique as you are. These itineraries are just a starting point, a bit of inspiration to show what’s possible. Your own trip all starts with a conversation with one of our Botswana experts, who’ll take the time to understand what matters most to you and design the perfect holiday to match.
Botswana's Kalahari salt-pans and grasslands are an ethereal, genuinely spectacular natural wonder. Dried up lake beds in the desert provide spectacular scenery and isolation, with some truly breathtaking wildlife spectacles in the rainy season. Vast herds of plains game, including the famous zebra and wildebeest migration, head south from the Delta to the Boteti River. This itinerary is most attractive from roughly November to April, but a trip that takes in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, Nxai Pan National Park and Okavango Delta is enticing at any time!
Here's a summary of what you might get up to day-to-day on this Botswana holiday. As always, this is just an idea. Every single day of your trip will be tailored to suit you.
Your Botswana adventure begins with an overnight flight from London to Johannesburg.
Board a connecting flight to Maun, taking roughly 90 minutes. From here it's a scenic light aircraft flight south, to the heart of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. Three nights here allows you to explore this great, pristine desert area in rewarding detail.
Central Kalahari game drives are spectacular when the rainy season heralds new grasses, an influx of plains game and an assortment of hungry predators. Other guided activities include nature walks, Bushman interaction experiences and day trips to the stunning Deception Valley.
Your morning activity finishes at the airstrip, where you'll catch a light aircraft flight north to Nxai Pan National Park. Here you will stay for three nights, absorbing the endless horizons of the Kalahari.
Game viewing activities follow approximately the same seasonal fluctuations as the Central Kalahari, with vastly increased numbers of ungulates and big cats. An excursion to the famous Baines Baobabs is a must, which can be combined with further game drives and nature walks.
A light aircraft transfer north takes you to the heart of the Okavango Delta for a stay in a game-rich private concession. Over a three night stay you will see a huge density of wildlife and can explore the wetlands by boat and mokoro.
Game drives on private concessions include thrilling night drives to search out nocturnal animals.
The morning activity ends at the airstrip for a light aircraft transfer to Maun. From here it's a short flight to Johannesburg and an overnight journey home.
