Hotel overview

The Moose Hotel is one of Banff's newest accommodation options, centrally located on the main avenue out of town. Opened in 2016, the property was designed with warmth and elegance in mind, offering a range of contemporary and comfortable hotel rooms and one and two bedroom suites alongside traditional hospitality. All rooms are decorated with rich, natural materials and have either one or two beds, air conditioning and tea & coffee making facilities. On the top floor you will find a gym and swimming pool, and the outdoor hot tubs offer a great vantage point towards the mountains. The onsite Mountain Spa has a sauna and range of indulgent treatments, and on the ground floor Pacini Restaurant offers a good range of authentically Italian fare. Alongside the alpine design you will also find around the building some fantastic local artwork, much of it 'moose' themed!

Horseriding in Banff

Escape in to the mountains on horseback as you journey along the meandering rivers and scenic valleys around Banff, exploring various points of interest along the way. You can choose from either a one, two or three hour trail ride, all offering magnificent views whilst your guide chats at intervals about the area and keeps an eye out for any passing wildlife. The riding is suitable for beginners as well as experienced riders who are happy to simply soak up the beautiful scenery at a lovely, relaxed pace.

Banff Gondola

The Banff sightseeing gondola is a spectacular way to view the Rocky Mountains, ascending the side of Sulphur Mountain to a dizzying height of 2,281 metres. The 360-degree views from the top are truly spectacular, capturing six mountain ranges, the town of Banff, and the Bow Valley. The upper terminal building houses a state-of-the-art interpretation centre alongside a selection of interactive experiences, as well as a café, restaurant, and numerous spots both inside and out from which to enjoy the expansive vistas. From here, a self-guided boardwalk meanders up to Sanson's Peak, the site of the Cosmic Ray Station National Historic Site and Sanson’s Peak Meteorological Station, while longer trails lead around the edges of the mountain and up to Sulphur Mountain's true summit or, alternatively, down to the gondola base. Local wildlife such as bighorn sheep, ground squirrels, and marmots are often spotted here, as well as several interesting species of birds — allow a couple of hours at the top and don’t forget your camera!

Alpine Heli-Hike

Take a helicopter ride high above Banff National Park to a secluded landing site, then spend three hours exploring the breathtaking alpine scenery on foot. Choose between a leisurely stroll through alpine meadows or a more challenging hike along the trails of Mount Charles Stewart, both accompanied by an experienced guide who will share their knowledge of the region’s geology, flora, and fauna. As part of the experience, enjoy a stunning nine-minute scenic flight up the Cougar Creek Valley, offering panoramic views of the mountains in all directions.

Evening Wildlife Safari

This two hour tour takes you in to Banff National Park to look for a variety of animals that live in this protected area. You are accompanied by a knowledgeable guide who will provide commentary on the background to the park and the current threats to the wildlife within it. Some of the most commonly sighted animals are big horn sheep, elk and osprey and on occasion black bears are also seen. There are also some fantastic views along the way and you will stop at a scenic stop for a photo opportunity. The tour departs early evening to catch the animals as they move around at dusk.
