Named by National Geographic as one of their ‘unique lodges of the world’, Pacuare is one of the most special places to stay in Costa Rica. Main access to the lodge is via white water raft, and upon arrival you are greeted by rustic luxury set in the pristine rainforest surrounds of the Talamanca Mountains. All suites have been designed with maximum privacy in mind and are lit only by candles, featuring four poster beds and private terraces where you can immerse yourself in the sounds of the rainforest. Upgrades do come with quite a price tag but offer even larger terraces with private plunge pools. If you can tear yourself away from your suite the lodge offers further rafting tours, zip lining, kayaking, bird watching and a variety of jungle hikes (including one to a Cabecar indigenous community), all payable locally. You also have the option to book a private meal in The Nest, the lodge’s unique platform in the treetops that is only accessible by canopy zip line. And don’t forget to take time out to relax in the hotel’s spectacular infinity pool, framed by the lush rainforest, it’s a must after an active day!
