Minneriya National Park sits to the northeast of Sigiriya and offers a welcome change of scenery from the ancient ruins that dominate the area. The park is home to the large and ancient Minneriya Tank, and it boasts an enormous variety of habitat and wildlife, covered in dry tropical forest, grasslands and wetlands. Read more >   9. Track the endangered black rhino in Namibia Namibia is an enlightened eco-tourism destination and their Save the Rhino Trust is one of Africa’s most celebrated conservation bodies. Visiting the Desert Rhino Camp in the Palmwag area of Damaraland to track the magnificent black rhino on foot, really is a once-in-a-lifetime experience you’ll feel honoured to have. The 450,000-hectare Palmwag Concession is a remote and very special place, home to Africa’s largest remaining population of endangered black rhino. Guests at Desert Rhino Camp have the privileged opportunity to track these fabulous animals with a skilled guide, often accompanied by a researcher for the Save The Rhino Trust, a pioneering conservation body in Palmwag for close to 20 years. Take to the air and put your nerves to the test with a skydive over the iconic Palm Jumeirah man-made island, or perhaps flying via zipline at Xline Dubai is more your style? Get a little sandy with a quad bike ride through the desert, travel over the dunes in style with an off-road 4×4 sunset adventure , or grab a board and surf the golden waves with a spot of sandboarding. Indulge in the food and drink Dubai boasts some of the best restaurants in the world. Aaaand relax If relaxation is what you’re after – understandable after the year we’ve all had! – then Dubai offers countless opportunities to lay low and get those feet up. With beach club lounges and luxury spas aplenty, alongside the impressive Kite Beach that combines sandy beach days with endless activities, you’ll be able to take a much-needed breather here. The perfect stop-off… Fancy Sri Lanka, the Maldives, or South East Asia but a little put off by spending that long in the air? We’ve got you covered. Dubai has more than enough to wow as a stand-alone destination, but it also works perfectly as a stop-off en route to a further afield destination.
