Tranquil Hideaway

Tranquil Hideaway is one of the most comfortable homestay experiences in Kerala. It’s set in a huge 400-acre working coffee and spice plantation surrounded by verdant forests and is home to Victor, Jini and their family. They stay in the main house, whereas guests stay in the beautiful rooms adjacent to the main property; these vary in style but are brimming with character. Just below the property is a large pool enveloped by tropical plants. This is a perfect place to spot some of the 115 species of birds that have been recorded here. Victor and Jini have also set up 12 walking routes spanning the 400-acre plantation and it’s advised to bring good footwear to take these on. Dinner is served in the main dining area and meals range from Indian to Continental, testament to the family’s history.

Rooms

Accommodation at Tranquil is made up of six Standard Rooms, one Deluxe Room, The Suite, The Tree House and The Tree Villa. The Standard Rooms are in the annexe and open out onto a large relaxing veranda overlooking the tropical gardens. The Deluxe Room is in the west wing of the main bungalow; this connects to a patio that looks down on the glorious pool. The Suite is tucked away behind the Deluxe Room and is much larger with a seating area and private garden. The Tree House rests on three trees and overlooks a north-facing valley. These have a bedroom, bathroom and veranda. The Tree Villa is large and designed to accommodation four people making it great for families.

Ideas for your free time

There's plenty to do in and around Tranquil Hideaway over two or three days. The resort itself is home to a lovely cool swimming pool, Ayurvedic massages, walking trails through the plantation, along with lots of bird watching opportunities.  Near by choose from the ancient Edakkal Caves; Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary, home to elephant; Pookote Lake and a beautiful Jain temple.
