Iban Longhouse

A stay at an Iban Longhouse is a unique experience guaranteed to make lasting memories. The accommodation is very basic with little privacy, but is a true Iban experience.

Travel to the longhouse by boat and enjoy a warm welcome from the shy locals. Join in with day to day life, explore the nearby river and farmland and share meals with the families living within the longhouse. Typically 10-30 families reside under one roof, each with their own living quarters. You will sleep in the common area on a thin mattress. Bathroom facilities are certainly not en-suite, will likely be outside and may not have running water. A stay here is not for the adventurous but we really recommend it to couples, friends or families seeking a real adventure and full cultural immersion.
