Serena Inn, Stone Town

With arguably the best location in Stone Town, set amidst the exotic sultan's palaces, Portuguese forts, ancient dhow harbours and bright bazaars, the Serena Inn has a stunning seafront setting and captures the elegance of a grand era since passed. The swimming pool is one of the most pleasant areas of the hotel and a dip is very welcomed after a day of exploration in the town. This leads onto the sizeable bar, a beautiful spot to watch the setting sun, and then the restaurant which serves a delicious mix of international and local cuisine.

The 51 en-suite rooms and suites, with wood framed louver doors, open onto private balconies with some of them offering the most delightful uninterrupted sea views. Cool, white walls, high-ceilings and crisp royal blues and whites give a sense of Zanzibar coastal charm and add to the character. Each room comes equipped with air-conditioning, satellite tv, minibar and Wifi.
