Wildlife enthusiasts are well catered for in Peru; llamas, vicunas, guanacos and alpacas galore – Peru’s four members of the camelid family are not in short supply, and can often be seen grazing on the plains throughout the countryside.

Identifying the subtle differences between species is a skill that you are likely to master during your stay! Another wildlife highlight comes at Condor’s Cross, where enormous condors glide along the thermals above the vast Colca Canyon. Slightly further afield, the astounding biodiversity of the Amazon rainforest can be explored. A few nights at a rustic eco-lodge here is likely to allow for sightings of hundreds of species of colourful bird, howler monkeys swinging through the canopies and playful giant river otters bobbing to the surface of the oxbow lakes.
