Hotel overview

Reesor Ranch is an authentic western stay in the Cypress Hills area, and a brilliant choice if you want to experience prairie ranch life rather than simply pass through it. This is Saskatchewan’s first provincially designated heritage ranch, run by the Reesor family since 1904, so it’s very much rooted in real history and a working-ranch atmosphere. It’s based near Cypress Hills Provincial Park, roughly four hours west of Regina and close to the Alberta border, making it a great stop if you’re travelling across the Prairies and want something with real character.

Accommodation is a mix of simple B&B-style rooms and more private cabin options. The B&B rooms are set up with either a double or queen bed, and it’s important to note they have shared bathrooms, so they suit guests who are happy keeping things straightforward. If you’d prefer your own space, the cabins are the better fit. The Cowboy’s Cabin is a cosy option with a double bed and kitchenette, plus a jacuzzi, barbecue and fire pit for relaxed evenings. The Bunkhouse is ideal for families or friends, with a queen bed in one room and a second room with a double and two singles, again with a kitchenette, jacuzzi, barbecue and fire pit. Frontier and Pioneer Cabins are smaller and more basic, arranged with two double bunk beds, plus a kitchenette and the same outdoor set-up with barbecue and fire pit.

On site, there’s a restaurant, and you can add in horseback adventures for an extra fee, which is very much the signature experience here, along with hiking in the surrounding landscape. WiFi and parking are included, and if you’re in the B&B rooms you’ll also have a ranch-style breakfast included. Firewood is available for an additional fee, which is well worth it if you’re planning to make the most of the fire pit and the wide-open prairie skies in the evening.
