Medicine Bag and Trickster Workshop

The Medicine Bag and Trickster Workshop is a warm, creative way to connect with Indigenous culture in Gros Morne, giving you the chance to slow down, listen, make something meaningful, and leave with a personal keepsake. Guided by storytelling and symbolism, you’ll craft your own moose hide medicine bag while learning about its traditional purpose and the idea of setting intention through what you create. There’s time to add simple beadwork and details that reflect your own personality and spirit, so no two bags ever feel the same. Along the way, the Trickster makes an appearance, bringing humour and playful stories that encourage reflection and conversation in a relaxed, welcoming setting. It’s less about ticking off a “must do” and more about spending an hour doing something thoughtful and hands-on, with a genuine sense of community. The session finishes with a shared moment to unwind, rounding things off in a calm, memorable way. This experience runs year-round and is best suited to adults and older children (it isn’t suitable for under 10s).

Whale Watching from Trinity

Head out in to the waters around the Bonavista Peninsula to look for the magnificent whales that migrate through the area. Fin, humpback, sperm, minke, and pilot whale are often seen and the focus of the trip is to give you time to observe them playing and feeding, whilst, at the same time, contributing to a wider scientific study. Run by a small, family-owned operator, these excursions gives the experienced guides the opportunity to photograph and document the whales and work closely with other environmental organisations to monitor their movements and health. You may also see various species of dolphins and porpoises, eagles and offshore sea birds, including puffins and northern gannets. This is a fantastic way to experience and learn about the wildlife here.

St John's Harbour Cruise

Join the MV Iceberg Quest and see St John’s and the beautiful Newfoundland coastline from the water. You cruise through the Narrows at the entrance to the harbour and meander along the coast looking for local wildlife such as puffins, seals and seabirds; on occasion humpback whales are also seen. Informative commentary along the way will give you an insight in to the unique way of life of the Newfoundlanders, and you can enjoy scenic views of the city as you return to shore.
