Magically situated amid the granite kopjes of the Twyfelfontein Conservancy, there is nowhere that embodies Damaraland and central Namibia quite as vividly as Mowani Mountain Camp. Looking down from its elevated vantage point, there are open valleys that turn a brilliant green in the wet season and quiver trees dotting the broad landscape. The camp was built to leave a minimal footprint and blend in with the natural surroundings of this scenic treat. The 12 tented rooms offer views over the granite valleys from the outskirts of camp, or a more integrated, central location where they are built ingeniously around the boulders.

Inside, there are wooden furnishings brought to life by brightly coloured textiles, with en-suite bathrooms and private decks to enjoy the unique surroundings. For extra luxury, one suite also has an external bathroom, incredible views from the balcony where private meals are served, and slightly incongruous TV facilities. The central dining and lounge areas are close to a refreshing swimming pool built amongst the rocks, while the sundowner spot on top of a kopje is a wonderful feature. This area is perfect for self-drivers, close to all of the cultural attractions including the Twyfelfontein rock art, while guided nature drives searching for desert elephant and other wildlife can also be booked.
