The Turtle Reserve is best placed for doing your turtle-watching when in this area, as you can head down to the beach after dark and before dawn when there are fewer people around and the turtle viewing is generally at its best. The trade-off is that the rooms in the main building face onto the car park, so it’s quite noisy, and the lodge is devoid of any real character, although the rooms are air-conditioned and have ensuite bathrooms. Additionally, the lodge has now added 12 comfortable tents, also air-conditioned and ensuite, that are marginally more exciting than staying in the main building.
Turtle-watching season falls between April and September – outside of these months, you may spot one of two turtles coming to sure, but sightings are rare and there are no other activities from the lodge.
