Strategically located in the heart of the Old Chinatown of Malacca, Hotel Puri is a simple hotel catering to those seeking value in the city. Hidden behind a beautiful shopfront, the accommodation is spread throughout a restored Peranakan House belonging to the descendants of an eminent philanthropist and rubber plantation owner.
Upon arrival it’s hard to image that there are 82 rooms and 10 guest suites given the charming, small entrance hall but the maze of traditional buildings and garden terraces leading to the rooms are cleverly concealed. Look out for the swiftlet nests hidden in the inner courtyards as you take the stairs to your room. The simple superior rooms are comfortable, sleeping between 1 and 4 guests depending on the room type. The double deluxe doubles and suites offer enhanced furnishings, but all of the rooms feature en-suite bathrooms, air-conditioning and mini bars. A little dated, the hotel is still extremely charming and a wonderful spot to base yourself within the city.
