Your tailor-made holiday will be as unique as you are. These itineraries are just a starting point, a bit of inspiration to show what’s possible. Your own trip all starts with a conversation with one of our Botswana experts, who’ll take the time to understand what matters most to you and design the perfect holiday to match.
Safaris to Botswana have traditionally been an exclusive domain aimed squarely at adults. But there are now outstanding options for family safaris, including the Chobe area, with its guaranteed big game sightings by the river and wide range of activities and entertainment. From here it's on to Ker & Downey's Footsteps Across the Delta camp, with a Young Explorers programme targeted specifically at families in one of the prime Okavango game viewing concessions. The itinerary ends at a family-friendly camp in the wildlife-rich Moremi Reserve.
Here's a summary of what you might get up to day-to-day on this Botswana holiday. As always, this is just an idea. Every single day of your trip will be tailored to suit you.
Your Botswana adventure begins with an overnight flight from London to Johannesburg.
Board a connecting flight to Kasane, taking roughly two hours. Here you will be greeted and transferred to the waterfront, for a three night stay at a relaxed, family friendly lodge. There are many activities to choose from, and this afternoon you will enjoy your first taste of Botswana.
Morning and afternoon game viewing activities around Chobe. You will enjoy enploring the national park on game drives and take a river cruise to watch elephants, buffalo and antelope come to the water. Fishing is another highlight and your lodge has a refreshing swimming pool to relax between activities.
There may be time for a morning activity before you're taken to the airport for a light aircraft into the Okavango Delta. At Shinde airstrip you'll be greeted and driven to Footsteps Across the Delta, a comfortable semi-permanent tented camp that will be your exclusive home for the next three nights.
Since your family have private use of Footsteps, activities can be tailored towards the ages and tastes of your children. These can include morning and afternoon game drives, night drives, mokoro trips and fishing.
Your game viewing activity this morning finishes at the airstrip, for a short hop to the Moremi Game Reserve. Here you will be greeted and taken to camp for a three-night stay in a family chalet.
Game drives in the Moremi Reserve can target a vast range of wildlife, with lion, buffalo, elephant and antelope all present in significant numbers. Motorboat activities and fishing are available for most of the year, while keen birders might be able to visit the Gadikwe Heronry.
The morning drive will take you to the airstrip for a light aircraft transfer to Maun. It's then a flight of roughly 90 minutes to Johannesburg, before your overnight flight home.
