Excursion Overview
Early morning is the best time to enjoy the nature of the Monteverde reserve. There are 13 kilometres of trails accessible to visitors in Monteverde itself, but your specialist guide will lead you through the prime areas for spotting wildlife and enjoying the best views of the cloud forest. The reserve boasts an astonishing 3000 species of plant including the highest diversity of orchids in the world, as well as 120 species of reptile and amphibian and over 400 species of bird. Look out for white-faced capuchin monkeys darting through the trees above you and listen out for the distinctive ‘chime’ of the Three-wattled Bellbird.
