We just love this action-packed, 2 week adventure through Borneo. You’ll not only get to witness the orangutan and all the fascinating endemic wildlife the region has to offer, but you’ll also experience the unique culture of the island and it’s jaw-dropping, dramatic landscapes.
Begin your adventure in Kuching, where cultural delights and historic treasures await exploration. The ‘City of Cats’ is a fascinating first port of call in Borneo. Here you can clearly see the unique blend of Indian and Malay cultures fusing together, and if you journey just a little outside the city you’ll quickly be able to experience far older cultures such as the Iban Headhunter tribes.
Travelling north, the next stop along your route will be at Mulu National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where you’ll be able to marvel at towering limestone formations and expansive cave systems (or just enjoy the facilities at the fantastic Mulu Marriott!)
After a short flight up to the Island’s capital, you’ll be able to indulge in island paradise on Gaya Island, where luxurious resorts and pristine beaches create a perfect retreat.
Following a few days of relaxation, you’ll finally be heading into the jungles of Eastern Sabah. This itinerary allows time with the awe-inspiring orangutans of Sepilok as well as the thriving biodiversity on the banks of the Kinabatangan River. Your adventure comes to its end at Danum Valley, where ancient rainforests host diverse wildlife and thrilling canopy walks await. We feel that the unique and impressive Borneo Rainforest Lodge is the perfect place to end a trip to Borneo – because it really doesn’t get better than that!
Immerse yourself in the vibrant cultures, breathtaking landscapes, and unique wildlife of Borneo, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
