Day 1
Depart the UK for your overnight flight to Malaysia. You will require a short layover in Kuala Lumpur airport before travelling onwards to Kuching in Borneo. Opt to add a few days in Malaysia's capital city to break the journey up if you would prefer.
Day 2
Arrive to Kuching where you will meet with your driver and guide. The afternoon is left free to relax after your flight or enjoy an orientation tour of Kuching with your guide to learn about the history and heritage of Sarawak.
Day 3
Explore Kuching today with your guide and delve deep into the capital of Sarawak’s rich history.  Wander through the bustling streets observing shops selling exotic goods all whilst learning about the city’s historical landmarks. Discover ornate Chinese temples and venture down narrow passageways in India Street. To conclude your guided tour of Kuching hop aboard a traditional Sampan and meander slowly along the majestic Sarawak River.
Day 4
The journey into Mulu National Park is as incredible as the place itself. Fly high over the rainforest canopy before landing within the heart of the National Park. Continue by road to the Park HQ where you will head out on a walk to visit the magical Deer Cave, just in time for the evening bat show at dawn. This evening relax at your lodge or luxury hotel before a night trail with your nature guide.
Day 5
A morning cruise takes you to explore wind cave and clearwater cave, followed by a swim in the blue lagoons. This afternoon we recommend taking on the canopy walkway, or for those needing downtime enjoy some lounging poolside at the Marriott. Alternatively we can arrange the Valley of Eden Trek, Pinnacle Trek or adventure caving.
Day 6
Fly up to Borneo’s capital, Kota Kinabalu, for your relaxing beach break. Take time to relax at your beach resort or explore the city and fabulous markets with your guide. Kota Kinabalu is the home to some of Borneo’s best beaches (and has the jetty to Gaya Island) and so the best place of your beach break in this itinerary is mid-way though your trip. A nice opportunity to slow the pace down before heading into the jungle!
Day 7
Free day at leisure to enjoy your beachside resort. Opt to stay on the mainland with easy access back into the city for dining and shopping, or take the more laid back route with a stay on Gaya Island for ultimate relaxation and tropical island bliss.
Day 8
Free day at leisure to enjoy your beachside resort.
Day 9
Travel to Sepilok today - the afternoon is spent visiting the Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre and Sun Bear Conservation Centre. This evening take a night walk or head out for dinner in the city.
Day 10
Today, it's time to make your way to your next lodge on the Kinabatangan River. This region of Sabah is prevalent with endemic wildlife and it's likely that you will see proboscis monkeys, orangutans, macaques, pygmy elephants, birds and other wildlife during your afternoon cruise along the river.
Day 11
A full day to enjoy boat trips on the river or leisure time - keep your eyes peeled again for plenty of wildlife, including Orangutan high in the canopy!
Day 12
Wave goodbye to the banks of the river and get ready to head deep into the last area of primary rainforest in Borneo; Danum Valley. An exclusive experience which is worth every penny, Danum is a must for wildlife lovers and nature enthusiasts. Be sure to book early as rooms are limited here and can sell out a year in advance for high season!
Day 13
Your tour includes a 3 day, 2 night package in the Borneo Rainforest Lodge living with the resident great ape, the Orangutan, and enjoying a number of incredible nature excursions. The excellent team will speak to you on arrival the best activities for you during your stay.
Day 14
Dine on a delicious breakfast as you listen to the call of the gibbons and spot tropical birds from the balcony. Depart from Danum Valley today travelling by 4x4 back to the airport for your departure flight to begin your journey home via Kuala Lumpur.

We just love this action-packed, 2 week adventure through Borneo. You’ll not only get to witness the orangutan and all the fascinating endemic wildlife the region has to offer, but you’ll also experience the unique culture of the island and it’s jaw-dropping, dramatic landscapes.

Begin your adventure in Kuching, where cultural delights and historic treasures await exploration. The ‘City of Cats’ is a fascinating first port of call in Borneo. Here you can clearly see the unique blend of Indian and Malay cultures fusing together, and if you journey just a little outside the city you’ll quickly be able to experience far older cultures such as the Iban Headhunter tribes.

Travelling north, the next stop along your route will be at Mulu National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where you’ll be able to marvel at towering limestone formations and expansive cave systems (or just enjoy the facilities at the fantastic Mulu Marriott!)

After a short flight up to the Island’s capital, you’ll be able to indulge in island paradise on Gaya Island, where luxurious resorts and pristine beaches create a perfect retreat.

Following a few days of relaxation, you’ll finally be heading into the jungles of Eastern Sabah. This itinerary allows time with the awe-inspiring orangutans of Sepilok as well as the thriving biodiversity on the banks of the Kinabatangan River. Your adventure comes to its end at Danum Valley, where ancient rainforests host diverse wildlife and thrilling canopy walks await. We feel that the unique and impressive Borneo Rainforest Lodge is the perfect place to end a trip to Borneo – because it really doesn’t get better than that!

Immerse yourself in the vibrant cultures, breathtaking landscapes, and unique wildlife of Borneo, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
