The world is still wide open – and ready when you are
It’s completely understandable if recent headlines have made you a little hesitant about booking that much-needed holiday of yours. When something as significant as the situation in Iran unfolds, it can feel like it casts a much wider shadow than it actually does. But the reality on the ground – and in the destinations we're sending our clients to – is very different.Put simply, most of the world is still open, with the majority of our destinations operating as normal, and ready to welcome you.In many cases, it’s business as usual.
As, our founder, Andy has shared in his recent message, the key thing to separate is perception vs reality. The current situation is geographically contained. Unless you’re travelling directly into the impacted Gulf region (which we’re not offering in line with FCDO advice), there is no meaningful increase in physical risk across the destinations we specialise in.What has shifted a little is how airlines are operating:• Some flights are being rerouted• Some schedules are being adjusted• Fuel costs are creeping upBut these are operational changes, not safety concerns. And importantly, they’re being managed behind the scenes by airlines every day. (And very closely monitored by us!)
If you’re looking for complete peace of mind, there are plenty of places where travel feels almost entirely untouched by what’s happening.Think destinations that don’t rely on Gulf connections and have strong direct routes from the UK.Across all of these destinations, the experience on the ground hasn’t changed. Guides are waiting, hotels are open, and the trips we design are running exactly as planned. If anything, it’s a good moment to travel – fewer crowds, and a bit more breathing room to snap up the best accommodation in places that are often a lot busier.
South Africa
South Africa is still one of the easiest long-haul trips to reach, with direct flights running smoothly from the UK. Once you’re there, everything is operating as normal – from safaris to the Garden Route – making it a very straightforward choice right now.
Canada
A Canada holiday is still about as stress-free and easy as long-haul travel gets. Direct flights, simple logistics and a well-established travel network mean you can plan with confidence. As always, we're at the end of the phone to chat any ideas through if Canada might be for you.
Costa Rica
With direct access from the UK and no reliance on Middle East flight paths, Costa Rica is a great place to travel at the moment. With so much nature, wildlife, beaches and calm... everyone needs a little 'pura vida' magic in their life. Especially at the moment!
Chile & Argentina
Chile and Argentina may be big, exciting, long-haul destinations, but they’re largely unaffected by current disruptions. With plenty of direct flight options into South America, this vast and impressive part of the world is a great place to escape to right now. Chat to our Latin America experts, Lou and Dawn, for more.
Places like Vietnam, Japan, Borneo, Malaysia are still very much open and safe to visit. The difference here is simply how you get there.Where possible, we’re guiding clients towards:• Direct flights• Or routes via Europe and Southeast Asia (rather than the Gulf)It’s only a small adjustment, but it keeps things smooth, and removes unnecessary exposure to potentially disrupted airspace.Sri Lanka and India are also great options for your holidays. In some cases, it can make it trickier to secure flights at a good price, but the sooner you do so, the better. This is exactly where having someone in your corner who knows the details really matters – it’s not about if you travel, but how you plan it and the support you have behind you along the way.
If long-haul feels like a step too far right now, we understand. And perhaps, this might be a brilliant moment to look at places that are:• A shorter flight • Less exposed to fuel fluctuations • And still packed with experience Egypt and Morocco are the obvious standouts.Egypt gives you the big hitters – the Pyramids, the Nile, temples and tombs – but done properly, with expert guides who bring it all to life.Morocco offers something completely different – souks, desert landscapes, mountain scenery and riads that feel a world away, all within relatively easy reach.Because flight distances are shorter, the impact of rising fuel costs is far less noticeable, too – making these trips feel like a very sensible option right now.
When you travel with us, you’re not just booking a holiday – you’re backed by a team who are watching things closely, every single day.If something unexpected happens:• We’re on hand 24/7 with an emergency phone • We step in quickly to reroute, rebook or adjust plans • We work directly with our partners on the ground to keep everything running smoothly You won’t be left figuring things out alone. And alongside that, you’ve got full financial protection in place, so you can book with confidence knowing everything is secure. It’s why so many of our clients come back to us – not just for the trips themselves, but for the reassurance that comes with them.
No one likes to think about the “what ifs” when booking a holiday. But it’s often in those unexpected moments that having the right people behind you really matters. We’re there from the moment you book, right through to when you’re back home – and if something changes while you’re away, we step in quickly to sort it.Here’s what a couple of our recent clients had to say:

[content] => When the Middle East situation kicked off while the trip was in progress, Erin made a swift and effective change of plan, and kept us fully in the loop. No fuss, no dramas, just a swift and efficient change of plan to utilise a different route home. We highly recommend Holiday Architects and Erin; we would certainly use them again in the future. Of our trips this has been one of the most memorable for all the right reasons.

[content] => Everything we saw, everywhere we went, and everything we experienced is something I would thoroughly recommend. Even the outbreak of war in Iran—which meant we couldn’t travel home via Doha—didn’t spoil our holiday, because Erin quickly arranged alternative flights back to the UK. Thanks to her, we still arrived home safely on the same day. Would we use Holiday Architects again? Definitely. Would we ask Erin to plan our next trip? Absolutely. Well done, Erin and HA!
